Texas quarterback Arch Manning is once again among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy next season after a promising finish to the 2025 college football season. Manning presided over an inconsistent Texas offense that earned a PFSN College Offense Impact score of 79.9, with primary wide receiver Ryan Wingo flattering to deceive.
Steve Sarkisian Praises Arch Manning’s Primary Weapon
Cam Coleman was the top-ranked wide receiver in the transfer portal when he left the Auburn Tigers, and head coach Steve Sarkisian’s Texas team won the race for the much-coveted prospect to give Manning a lethal offensive weapon next season.
While speaking to reporters after spring practice on Monday, Sarkisian lavished praise on Coleman’s talent and work ethic during the Longhorns’ practice sessions.
“Cam, I think the skill set speaks for itself. But it’s the work ethic, the demeanor, his willingness to be coachable, the effort he exudes,” Sarkisian said. “When this guy’s number is called, he plays. When your best players are your best practice players, they send a great message to the rest of the team.
“And I think Cam has done that through one day of [spring] practice. Up until the end of winter conditioning last Friday, we always had a conditioning drill at the end of our workout. And, I mean, he ran our half gassers as good or better than anybody on the team, and you love that.”
Alongside the explosive Coleman, the Longhorns have a stacked wide receiver room, including Emmett Mosley, Kaliq Lockett, and Wingo as they attempt to ramp up their offensive production next season.
Sarkisian Reveals Why Cam Coleman Joined Texas
Last season, Sarkisian’s Longhorns missed out on a spot in the College Football Playoff after a damaging loss to the Florida Gators. The Longhorns are already one of the preseason favorites to reach the SEC championship game and clinch a berth in the playoff next season.
After spring practice on Monday, Sarkisian revealed why Coleman snubbed interest from programs like the Alabama Crimson Tide to join the Longhorns.

“He came here with real intentions and a real reason of understanding that he wants to compete for a National Championship and he wants to put himself in the best position to get ready for the NFL. He came to a pro-style offense for a reason,” Sarkisian said.
Last year, Coleman tallied 708 receiving yards, resulting in five touchdowns for an inconsistent Auburn team after coach Hugh Freeze was fired in early November. He earned a PFSN College WR Impact score of 75.2.
