Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders spent his bye week catching up with his father, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders. The former Colorado quarterback was in town for the Buffaloes’ clash with Arizona.
The Buffaloes are currently 3-5 on the season and are projected to finish the season 5-6, according to PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter. With Shedeur’s sudden reemergence, it puts their quarterback struggles into perspective.
Shedeur Sanders and Coach Prime’s Iconic Pregame Walk Serves As A Reminder To Buffaloes’ Quarterbacks
During the buildup to today’s game, aside from an appearance by NFL legend Ray Lewis, Shedeur and Deion were caught on camera doing their iconic pregame walk. This was common practice for the father and son during Shedeur’s time at Colorado.

Despite the happy moment, Colorado has continued to struggle.
During the opening quarter against Arizona, quarterback Kaiden Salter completed 8 of 10 passes. On paper, this looks fine. However, these eight completions accounted for just 36 yards, as Colorado went down 0-17 in the opening 15 minutes.
This season, according to PFSN’s CFB QB impact rankings, Salter is the 28th-best quarterback in the nation. With an impact score of 82.0, the Buffaloes quarterback has thrown for 1,193 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions this year.
In the buildup to today’s game, during the week, one college football analyst, RJ Young, revealed his take on the current quarterback situation at Colorado. Young suggested that the Buffaloes could be due for a quarterback change.
“If you hit the portal, he can do that. He might find someone who is disgruntled at quarterback, or maybe it’s Julian Lewis.” Young suggested that Coach Prime could go looking for a quarterback in January.
Julian Lewis was the five-star quarterback prospect Colorado elected not to redshirt this summer. Despite that, he has yet to see significant game time this season. Lewis flipped his commitment from USC to join Sanders at Colorado.
Both quarterbacks will have to work hard to reach the heights of Shedeur. In 2024, Coach Prime’s son threw for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns with a QB rating of 168.8 in the regular season.
When Deion Sanders signed with Colorado, the Buffaloes were coming off a 1-11 season. In his first season in charge, Sanders coached them to a 4-8 record. After that, the head coach improved the team, going 9-4 in 2024 and taking them to their first bowl game. Shedeur also played a vital role in helping produce a Heisman winner in Travis Hunter.
