Ohio State Fans Fume as Referees Accused of Penn State Bias After ‘Embarrassing’ Call

Ohio State fans took to Twitter following a questionable decision by the referees that kept Penn State in the game during the Big Ten clash.

Ohio State is currently leading Big Ten rivals Penn State by 31-14. Despite the Nitanny Lions initially looking like they were in the contest, the Buckeyes managed to pull away courtesy of a standout performance from quarterback Julian Sayain.

Going into today’s game, Ohio State was the No.1 team in the nation at 7-0 and had a 20% chance of retaining its National Championship according to PFSN’s playoff meter. Meanwhile, Penn State is yet to win a game following the decision to fire James Franklin.

Ohio State Fans Fume as Referees Accused of Penn State Bias.

During the game, a controversial call sparked outrage among fans. After a forced fumble was called on Chaz Coleman on Amare Campbell, fans began to question the decision. Many believed that the play should have been blown dead before the fumble.

“The fox TV producer was in the refs ear….no whistle! We need this to keep eyeballs on this game today.” One outraged Ohio State fan posted the following after the decision. When the fumble was recorded, Penn State was down 7-17.

However, immediately after, the Nitanny Lions managed to score their second touchdown of the game, keeping the tie alive at one score. Despite that, it wasn’t enough to keep them alive as Ohio State continued to wreak havoc on their defense.

“Well refs have been anti osu all game so checks out.” Another Buckeye fan stated that despite their dominance, the referees were making their best efforts to keep Penn State in the game.

“Spend whatever is needed for Chaz Coleman. Don’t be cheap again.” Another Ohio Fan suggested following the play. The True Freshman has recorded one sack and one fumble recovery this season.

According to PFSN’s edge impact rankings, Coleman, in his Freshman season, is one of the top 300 players in his position in the nation. With an impact score of 70.4, he ranks 224th nationally, with 4 QB tackles and seven tackles this year.

“Shocked the big ten didn’t buzz down and say forward progress was stopped. Legit shocked.” Penn State fans suggested that the bias was in the other direction, towards Ohio State. This led to more backlash from the Buckeyes’ fans.

“You mean, get the call correct? They don’t do that in the Big Ten.” One Ohio State fan argued back, as arguments continued to rage on after the decision.

However, as it stands, the Buckeyes look set to get the last laugh. Going into the fourth quarter, they appear almost set to secure the game’s victory. They currently lead 31-14 after their quarterback threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns on the Penn State defense.
