LSU Sources Grow Confident About Lane Kiffin as $100M Offer Appears Too Tempting: Insider

During today's Big Noon Kickoff, CBS's Bruce Feldman revealed where he confidently believes Lane Kiffin will land with his decision coming up.

With the decision coming up in just hours, Lane Kiffin appears to be choosing between two options at the moment. After Florida was ruled out of the race to land the Ole Miss head coach, LSU is currently one of the frontrunners to land his services.

Kiffin is currently in his sixth season at Ole Miss, holding a 55-19 overall record. His success on the field this year stands in stark contrast to the programs chasing him. According to the PFSN CFB Playoff Meter, the Rebels currently have a 100% chance of making the playoffs after securing it with their victory last night.

LSU Sources Grow Confident About Lane Kiffin as $100M Offer Appears Too Tempting.

Ahead of the upcoming decision, Fox Sports insider  Bruce Feldman appeared on Big Noon Kickoff. During this segment, he revealed who he believes is currently leading the race for the Kiffin position. According to the report, the winning party will be paying significantly for his services.

“I talked to LSU sources this morning, and they are very confident that Lane Kiffin is going to come to Baton Rouge and accept this job,” Feldman revealed during his report. This comes just a week after reports indicated how much LSU is offering.

The financial stakes are high across the board. ON3 Sports reported earlier in the week that LSU and Ole Miss are all prepared to offer contracts in the $13 million-per-year range, a figure that would place Kiffin among the highest-paid coaches in college football.

According to a report from ESPN, Kiffin is set to make his decision today. Following yesterday’s victory over Mississippi State, the Ole Miss head coach said he planned to attend his son’s high school playoff game in Tupelo, Mississippi, last night before making any decision.

“It’s a hard decision. You guys have them all the time. You’ve got to make decisions about jobs you take and where you move, and we get paid a lot, so I understand we’re under a lot of spotlight and scrutiny.” Kiffin stated ahead of his choice.

On top of being set to receive a reported $98 million deal to become the highest-paid coach in college football, there would also be another advantage to Kiffin joining LSU. LSU has also promised to enhance NIL investments to more than $25 million.

However, after securing his team’s playoff berth last night, Kiffin also has the opportunity to go down in Ole Miss history. With four ten-win seasons in the past five years, the Rebels’ head coach also stated that he has found happiness and peace during his time in Oxford.

“We’ve got a lot of things going here. Doing really well, and I love it here.” The Ole Miss head coach stated earlier in the year, when he was being linked to the vacancy at Florida.

With just hours until his big decision, Kiffin could either enter into one of the most lucrative deals in the history of college football for one of the biggest programs in the nation. Or, he could become an Ole Miss legend and finally downplay the rumors about his character. However, it appears currently that he is leaning in one direction.
