Lane Kiffin Upsets LSU and Florida With His Statement as New Dolphins Links Emerge

Lane Kiffin is already making buzz and it seems he is not shying away from speaking his mind with LSU and Florida flocking to get his signature.

Lane Kiffin is the hottest commodity in college football. The Ole Miss head coach has turned the program around and now sits comfortably with a clear shot at the playoffs. With his success, however, comes the inevitable: rival programs with deeper pockets and prestigious histories are swarming Oxford, trying to lure him away.

But in a move that signals his intentions, Kiffin seems to be shutting the door on the biggest suitors, suggesting his future isn’t for sale.

Why Is Lane Kiffin Staying at Ole Miss Despite Interest From LSU and Florida?

While Florida and LSU are considered front-runners to land Kiffin, it appears he has a clear idea of what he wants his future to look like. On the SEC Network, Marty Smith recently buried rumors of Kiffin leaving for another SEC program. Smith pointed out how Kiffin has found his best version at Ole Miss, advocating that a switch might not make sense for him. “He has found himself in Oxford, Mississippi,” Smith said. “He has found peace. He has found the best version of himself.”

Kiffin’s response on X seemed to confirm his agreement. He wrote, “Love you @MartySmithESPN like a brother. 💙”

This is a clear indication that Kiffin is happy at Oxford and, despite his personal connections to Florida, may not be willing to make a switch. Adding to that, the PFSN Playoff Meter predicts that neither LSU nor Florida will make the playoffs this season. Ole Miss, on the other hand, boasts an 8-1 overall and 5-1 SEC record. A few favorable results could propel the Rebels to a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship. However, that same success is also ensuring his name is being mentioned in NFL circles.

Colin Cowherd recently pushed Kiffin’s name for the head coaching job with the Miami Dolphins. “They got no alpha, they got no culture,” Cowherd said. “Mike McDaniel’s a great offensive coach? Ehh, come on. Here’s why you go hire Lane Kiffin. No. 1 offense in college football last several years.”

The Dolphins have had a rocky start to their season, currently sitting at 2-7. This poor record poses a threat not only to head coach Mike McDaniel but also to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Additionally, Kiffin’s connection to quarterback Jaxson Dart has fueled speculation about a potential move to the New York Giants.

While the NFL presents a lucrative situation, Kiffin might find it hard to leave Oxford, where he is building his own legacy. He has also been adamant about his future, clarifying that money might not be enough to trigger his buyout. Rumors suggest that Florida tabled a $13 million offer, but to no avail. As these rumors continue to swirl, Kiffin and Ole Miss are focused on their next game when they welcome The Citadel to Oxford.
