Who Is Starting at Quarterback for Ole Miss Against LSU?

Lane Kiffin corrected Pat McAfee during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” after the host announced Trinidad Chambliss as the starting quarterback for Ole Miss. McAfee had stated that Chambliss would start for the third straight week against LSU.

“Well, that’s good to know. That’d be news to me that the starting quarterback’s been figured out,” Kiffin responded. “I’ll go down and tell our staff right here. Pat broke it that Trinidad’s our starting quarterback.”

The Ole Miss coach made it clear that no decision has been finalized. “So no, we haven’t made that decision yet,” Kiffin said. This leaves Austin Simmons and Chambliss in contention for the start against the Tigers.

Given the opponent’s hefty roster investment, this quarterback decision becomes even more critical. According to The Advocate’s Reed Darcey, LSU head coach Brian Kelly revealed on his weekly radio show that the team’s 2025 roster costs “about $18 million. ”

“They spent a lot of money in the portal, and it paid off,” Kiffin said of LSU’s approach. The two teams will clash Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
