The 2026 season will once again bestow head coach Kalen DeBoer with the heat of many expectations after a playoff run in 2025. With several months remaining before the action begins, DeBoer is taking full advantage of the offseason by aggressively recruiting to strengthen the Alabama program and turn future goals into reality.
Alabama Offers 2028 Defensive Line Prospect Geraci Carson
Defensive lineman Geraci Carson announced he received an offer from Alabama on Saturday, April 4, ahead of his visit to the Crimson Tide. He has received several offers from top schools and views the Alabama offer as particularly significant.
DeBoer’s staff is expected to host Carson on campus next week. Alabama has a strong history at that position coming out of Mississippi, and Carson is already impressed with the Crimson Tide’s winning culture.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity,” Carson told Touchdown Alabama. “It means a lot to be recognized by a program at that level. I’ve put in a lot of work to get here, but I know there’s still more to do.
“Alabama has built a culture of winning, and with that comes a lot of history and responsibility. If you go there, you have to be ready to carry that standard.”
Carson is a sophomore at Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi. He is the No. 17 defensive lineman in the 2028 class, the No. 4 prospect in Mississippi, and the No. 134 recruit in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Before Alabama extended its offer, Carson had also drawn interest from LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Miami, Texas A&M, and several others. There isn’t a clear frontrunner in his recruitment, but early interest indicates a competitive race among SEC programs.
DeBoer and his staff could use the upcoming campus visit to build early momentum in Carson’s recruitment. He would be a major boost to Alabama’s defense, which finished last season with an 84.9 rating in the PFSN College Football Defense Impact Metric.
The Crimson Tide is also in a strong position for 2027’s No. 3 defensive lineman, Mitchell Turner, who listed Alabama in his top eight schools and is scheduled for a multi-day visit on May 29.
Meanwhile, Alabama continues to pursue defensive talent in future classes, having extended an offer to Captain Munnerlyn Jr. on Friday for the 2029 recruiting class. The safety at Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama, has already connected with the Alabama coaching staff.
“It is a dream come true, definitely coming from Alabama,” Munnerlyn told Touchdown Alabama. “That’s always been my dream school since a kid, very excited to go up there again.
“It was very electric. Their DB coach is a real good dude and can get me to the next level.”
Munnerlyn has yet to be rated by most recruiting outlets but was recently named to the Rivals 2029 football recruiting class watch list after a standout 2025 season in which he recorded 63 tackles and two interceptions. He is the son of former South Carolina standout and longtime NFL cornerback Captain Munnerlyn.
