Where Do Indiana and Ohio State Stand Heading Into Tonight’s Game?
Indiana is coming off a 56-3 win against Purdue in Week 14. The Hoosiers completed a perfect 12-0 regular season and sit at No. 2 in the PFSN College Football Playoff Rankings. This marks the first undefeated regular season in program history and surpasses the 11-2 record Cignetti posted in his debut year.
With a win over Ohio State, Indiana could secure the top seed in the College Football Playoff and a Rose Bowl berth. This is the Hoosiers’ first appearance in a conference championship game, but Cignetti continues to express full confidence in his squad.
“What I can tell you about this football team is we’ve met every challenge up to this point because we prepare consistently the way you need to prepare and put it on the field, and all three phases have been very consistent,” Cignetti said.
“That’s what it’s going to take this week: detailed preparation, commit to the preparation, eliminate the noise and the clutter, put yourself in the best position to play your best on Saturday individually and collectively.”
Ohio State is also coming in undefeated at 12-0 after a 27-9 win against Michigan and holds the No. 1 spot in the PFSN CFP Rankings. Since the Big Ten Championship Game began 14 years ago, the Buckeyes have claimed more league titles (five)Â than any other team.
The teams met last season, when Ohio State earned a 38-15 win. The Buckeyes have a 29-game winning streak over Indiana, but Day is not taking the Hoosiers lightly.
“Everybody wants to talk about last week, but we’re on to Indiana,” Day said. “This is the No. 2 team in the country right now. They’re undefeated. I think they’re playing as good as anybody in the country. They have a really good team, and we got to be ready to go.”
Expect a high-energy showdown, as the two programs combined for eight of the 12 First Team All-Big Ten selections from the coaches.
