Entering Week 14 of the 2025 College Football season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have fallen from their earlier standing at the top of the ACC, but there’s still a real — albeit fleeting — path for them to make the ACC Championship Game.
With the use of PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter and the College Football Playoff Predictor, let’s examine Georgia Tech’s chances of making it to the ACC Championship Game and playing in the CFB Playoff.

Georgia Tech’s ACC Championship Game Chances
PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter gives Georgia Tech a 1.8% chance of playing in the ACC Championship game. They have no conference games remaining.
Georgia Tech’s loss to NC State (6-5, 3-4) obliterated their authority in the ACC Championship race. Before that game, the Yellow Jackets were undefeated in conference play and rolling toward a strong finish.
That loss to the Wolfpack was the first sign of the late-season collapse, however, and the woes only continued when Georgia Tech lost 42-28 to Pittsburgh in Week 13, further sundering their title hopes.

There’s still a path to the ACC Championship Game for Georgia Tech, but they have no control over their fate. Entering Week 14, they needed both SMU and Virginia to lose, and Pittsburgh to win. In that scenario, Georgia Tech’s win over Wake Forest would give them the common opponents edge over the two current favorites.
With that scenario eliminated, the Yellow Jackets turn to another favorable outcome if Miami beats Pittsburgh. But, Georgia Tech would then need Duke to lose and NC State to win, while also counting on SMU and Virginia to lose.
In short, it’s not impossible for Georgia Tech to make the ACC Championship Game, but it is very improbable.
What are Georgia Tech’s Playoff Chances?
There are two routes into the College Football Playoff for teams: win their conference championship game or be an at-large team. Georgia Tech can only make the CFB Playoffs by winning the ACC Championship.
The PFSN College FPM gives Georgia Tech a 0.6% chance of making the College Football Playoff, and a 0.6% chance of winning the ACC Championship. That reinforces the reality that it’s ACC title or bust for the Yellow Jackets, if they want to have an extended postseason stay.
Georgia Tech is currently ranked 23rd in the CFP Selection Committee rankings and could move outside of the top 25 after falling to Georgia in Week 14. An At-Large bid is not even on the horizon. Without an ACC Championship victory, the Yellow Jackets are locked out of the CFB Playoffs — but if they find a way to win the title, they’re in the field.
Our simulations also give Georgia Tech a 0.05% chance of playing in the CFP semifinals, a 0.1% chance of playing in the CFP National Championship Game, and a 0.01% chance of winning the CFP National Championship.
