Following Week 14 of the 2025 College Football season, the Georgia Bulldogs are projected to be in the CFB Playoff field. Where do they stand in the 12-team bracket, and can they compete for a National Championship?
With the use of PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter and the College Football Playoff Predictor, let’s examine Georgia’s chances of playing in the CFB Playoff.
What are Georgia’s CFB Playoff Chances?
The PFSN College FPM gives Georgia a 100% chance of making the College Football Playoff. Georgia is currently ranked 3rd in the CFP Selection Committee rankings, sitting at 11-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Georgia is in the CFB Playoffs, but the question that remains is where the Bulldogs will be seeded. Georgia needs to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship to claim a top-four seed and secure a first-round bye in the CFB Playoffs. If they lose, they’ll be in the lower part of the field.

According to the PFSN College FPM, Georgia has a 44.2% chance of beating Alabama in the SEC Championship, and thus has a 44.2% chance of earning the 2-seed in the CFB Playoffs. They can’t earn the 1-seed, as either Ohio State or Indiana will earn the top speed with a Big Ten title victory.
If Georgia loses the SEC Championship against Alabama, the Crimson Tide could vault into the top-five seeds, while Georgia will likely fall to the 6-seed or the 7-seed. The PFSN College FPM gives Georgia a 20.5% chance of becoming the 6-seed and a 35.3% chance of becoming the 7-seed.
In the event that Georgia loses and gets the 6-seed, they’ll face the 11-seed in the first round of the CFB Playoffs. According to the PFSN College FPM, that 11-seed matchup could be against Virginia, Tulane, Miami, or North Texas — depending on how Conference Championship weekend shakes out.
If Georgia gets the 7-seed, they’ll face one of Texas Tech, Notre Dame, Virginia, or Miami — but only Tech if the Red Raiders lose the Big 12 Championship and fall to the 11-seed. In both outcomes, Georgia would draw a tough opponent — either Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon, Alabama, or Texas Tech — in the second round.
Ultimately, Georgia’s path will be easier if the Bulldogs can win the SEC Championship, secure the first-round bye, and control their quarter of the bracket until an inevitable date with one of the best teams in the nation.
One could argue that, of the Championship-contending Georgia teams in the recent past, this Bulldogs squad has the least amount of star power. But still, Kirby Smart has his team playing high-quality football — particularly in the trenches, with standouts like Christen Miller and Monroe Freeling leading the way.
Our simulations give Georgia a 43.6% chance of playing in the CFP semifinals, a 23.2% chance of playing in the CFP National Championship Game, and an 8% chance of winning the CFP National Championship.
