Brent Venables’ No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners beat Kalen DeBoer’s No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide, 23-21, on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa. It marked Alabama’s first loss on Homecoming since 2001. With the loss, Alabama also fell to 8-2 in the 2025 season.
The defeat to Oklahoma on Saturday was also Alabama’s first loss inside Bryant-Denny Stadium since 2023 and its first home loss in the Southeastern Conference since 2019. The Crimson Tide’s first overall loss since Week 1, this outcome snapped their nation-best 17-game home winning streak.
And amid all this, a former Crimson Tide player got heavily trolled by fans due to his social media remarks.
Fans Call Out Former Alabama Star Following Oklahoma Loss
Ahead of the game, former Alabama star Marlon Humphrey had shared a controversial take on Oklahoma. “Oklahoma lowkey should’ve just stayed in the Big 12. SEC isn’t for everyone …. roll tide!!!” Humphrey tweeted.
Fans quickly started firing back following Alabama’s defeat.
“SEC definitely ain’t for bama anymore, not without Saban 😂😂,” a fan said.

“Marlon, OU owns Alabama little bro. They lead the series all-time 😭,” one said.
“That aged well. Two years in a row beating Alabama, right?” a person quipped.
“Oklahoma is going to play for championships wherever you put them. SEC wanted OU and Texas and you got ‘em,” one added.
“Maybe bama should change conferences, they’re not SEC made anymore,” a fan said.

Saturday’s game marked the first loss at home for the Crimson Tide under DeBoer, and Oklahoma won despite recording only 212 yards of offense, marking its lowest output since 2022. The Sooners relied heavily on a defense that forced three Alabama turnovers.
Alabama still has a path to the playoff, potentially even at 9-3 due to several high-quality wins. However, its place in the 12-team field is no longer certain after falling to Oklahoma.
“Just really disappointed in the outcome,” DeBoer said postgame. “We played a lot of great snaps out there, but the turnover battle… got killed there, and that became the game.”
“And I think it was probably 17 points coming off of turnovers, and a short field at the beginning, where they got a field goal on the punt return. We missed our opportunities, and that’s what hurts so much. I have no doubt about how we’ll respond, but the guys are disappointed and frustrated about how this ended up here, because that’s the moment we’re in.”
Currently ranked 29th on PFSN’s College Football Team Impact metric, the Crimson Tide will host Eastern Illinois next Saturday.
