The University of Michigan and Wolverines head football coach Sherrone Moore recently withdrew their appeal to their NCAA infractions case. Michigan is currently 6-2 this season with a 12.81% chance of reaching the CFB playoffs according to PFSN’s playoff meter.
Moore was penalized with a two-year show-cause order and suspended for three games across two seasons. The head coach served two of those games at the start of the 2025 season, and reportedly will serve the third in next season’s opener against Western Michigan.
Ex-Ohio State DE Accuses Sherrone Moore of Dodging The NCAA
After it was revealed that Moore had withdrawn his appeal, former Ohio State Buckeyes Defensive End Matt Finkes called out the Michigan head coach. The former Buckeye also called out former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh during the rant.
“Anyone with half a brain knew this was going to be the case. Just like the Harbaugh suspension “appeal” never came about. And why, you ask? Because Michigan wants no part of an actual courtroom with things like discovery, perjury, subpoenas, etc., they would be shredded.” The former Buckeye stated in an X post.

During his time as a Buckeye, Finkes earned Third-team All-American honors in 1994, two-time first-team All-Big Ten honors in 1994 and 1996, and second-team All-Big Ten honors in 1995. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 1997 NFL draft as the 189th overall pick.
Harbaugh, the former Michigan coach, received a four-year show-cause penalty in 2024 for his role in the Wolverines’ recruiting violations case. The violations included texting during the COVID-19 recruitment dead period, analysts performing on-field coaching, and coaches watching workouts over Zoom.
The NCAA also handed down much more drastic consequences to others involved in the case. An eight-year show-cause penalty on Stalions and a 10-year show-cause on the former head coach, Harbaugh, means that he will be practically banned from College Football for the next 14 years.
Moore, meanwhile, is being charged due to an alleged sign-stealing scandal in 2023. The current Michigan head coach served as a part of Harbaugh’s staff. He succeeded the former head coach, who is now banned from College Football for the foreseeable future.
“Associates that would attend games featuring potential Michigan opponents with the purpose of electronically recording their sidelines and gathering the signs and signals that said teams would use to call plays.” The charges read.
“No more refusing to comply with an investigation or stonewalling, which was Harbaugh’s go-to defense for cheating. They would be trapped. Michigan Cheated.” The former Buckeye concluded.
Despite the apparent scandal, Michigan will face no consequences regarding the 2023 National Title. They were hit with fines that could total as much as $30 million. However, there will be no postseason bans as they look to the future.
