‘PLEASE TAKE HIM,’ ‘You Wanna Get Worse?’ — Wild Deion Sanders to Florida State Proposal Divides CFB Fans Straight Down the Middle

A wild Deion Sanders-to-FSU conspiracy theory has sparked divided reactions from college football fans after Florida State’s opener.

From his personal health struggles to his son Shilo Sanders’ legal issues, Deion Sanders has dealt with several off-field challenges in recent months. As the 2026 season approaches, Coach Prime is focused on guiding Colorado toward a much-needed bounce-back campaign.

However, a wild conspiracy theory linking Sanders to Florida State has been making headlines, sparking plenty of reactions from college football fans.

Fans React as Deion Sanders-to-Florida State Theory Takes College Football by Storm

Florida State began its 2026 season on Saturday with a 34-17 win over New Mexico State. Though the Seminoles never appeared to shift out of first gear for much of the game, they still managed to handle a New Mexico State squad that showed flashes of promise throughout the game.

Meanwhile, the game sparked the unexpected theory from a Colorado fan, Dalvinthetruth, who suggested that Sanders could eventually make his way to Florida State.

“I’m watching Florida State look mid against New Mexico State and all I have to say is,” the fan wrote with an edited snap of Coach Prime in an FSU jersey.

Some fans immediately embraced the idea.

“PLEASE TAKE HIM. That would be a great hire,” a fan said.

“His staff just needs to be right but heck yeah he’d be awesome for FSU.  FSU would be what’s poppin everywhere,” one said.

“IT’S TIME,” a person added.

Sanders took charge of a Colorado program that had endured a disastrous 1-11 season in 2022. He immediately earned national attention in his first season, leading the Buffaloes to a 3-0 start in 2023. Colorado eventually finished that season 4-8, but Sanders led the program to a significant improvement the following year with a 9-4 record.

The Buffaloes struggled again in 2025, finishing 3-9, but Sanders’ reputation as a coach remains significant. During his time at Colorado, he helped develop Travis Hunter, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy, while also coaching his son, Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders has implemented several demanding rules and expectations in an effort to get the most out of his players. However, not everyone was convinced that bringing Coach Prime to Florida State would be an upgrade, especially after the unexpected theory gained attention.

“You wanna get worse?” a fan exclaimed.

“Not gonna happen,” one added.

While Colorado endured a difficult 2025 season, the suggestion that Florida State would actually become worse with Sanders at the helm is certainly debatable. In fact, the Seminoles have failed to reach the postseason in each of the last two seasons and finished the 2025 season with a 5-7 record.

Meanwhile, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell managed to save his position following the 2025 season, even as elite coaches such as Brian Kelly and James Franklin were fired from their respective jobs. However, Norvell’s position could become increasingly uncertain in 2026.

If Florida State once again finishes with a losing record, the Seminoles could potentially begin searching for a new direction, which could make names such as Sanders part of the broader coaching conversation. PFN gives FSU just a 0.1% chance of making the CFP in the 2026 season.
