6 Hidden Changes in EA Sports College Football 26

The reception to College Football 26 has mainly been positive, besides some insiders complaining about bugs. Since reviving the franchise last summer, EA has implemented several much-needed changes and additions.

While many of the updates have been noticeable, EA Sports content creator Eric Rayweather recently released a video highlighting six changes in this year’s game that the company didn’t announce ahead of time. Here’s a breakdown of those six hidden updates.

1) Playmaker

Playmaker is a gameplay feature that lets users, while using the quarterback, direct a wide receiver to run a route different from the original concept.

Though Playmaker has been a feature in EA Sports Football games for several years, the developers changed the activation method in College Football 26.

Previously, players could use the right stick alone to trigger Playmaker, but Rayweather explains that now you must hold the L2 or left trigger (console dependent) while moving the right stick to direct your receiver’s route.

2) Juking in the Backfield With the Quarterback

The reason for changing the Playmaker controls is that EA introduced a new feature in College Football 26, allowing quarterbacks to juke defenders while still holding the ball in the backfield.

Rayweather explained that although EA informed fans about this change, many players remain confused about executing it. Unlike juking with a running back or wide receiver by simply flicking the right stick, users must now hold down the right trigger while moving the right stick to perform a juke in the backfield as the quarterback.

3) Truck Stick Change

Along with Playmaker, EA also updated the trucking controls in College Football 26. Previously, players had to flick the right stick upward to perform a truck move with a running back, but this year the right stick has two different functions.

Players can now use the truck stick to perform the traditional trucking animation or to reach the ball forward for extra yards, a new feature. Rayweather explains that users must lightly flick the right stick upward to execute a truck, while holding the stick up triggers the new ball-reach animation.

4) Changing Your Camera Angle

Previously, users could change the camera angle presnap by pressing up or down on the D-pad. However, in College Football 26, pressing up on the D-pad now opens the quick substitution menu, allowing players to make substitutions on the fly.

Rayweather explains that to change the camera angle in this year’s game, users must press down on the D-pad, which cycles through all available camera angles.

5) QB Contain Change

QB Contain is a presnap defensive adjustment that allows users to have their edge rushers contain the quarterback instead of rushing. This can be especially useful against quarterbacks who like to scramble frequently.

Rayweather explains that in previous EA Football games, players could bring up the presnap menu by pressing the RB or R1 button (depending on the console) and then pressing it again to activate QB Contain. However, in College Football 26, users must press  RB and then the LB button to activate QB Contain.

6) Switching Defensive Line User

In College Football 25 and previous EA football games, users have often experienced getting stuck controlling a defensive lineman and needing to switch off to reach their desired player.

In College Football 25, players could quickly switch from a defensive lineman to a linebacker or cornerback using the switch stick. However, in College Football 26, Rayweather explains that if a player is stuck on a defensive lineman, they must first press up on the D-pad to move to a different defender, then use the switch stick to select their desired player.
