Fans Turn On Deion Sanders As Colorado Misses Out on Bowl Season in Spectacular Style

Colorado Buffaloes fans turned on head coach Deion Sanders after a questionable play-calling moment during the loss to West Virginia.

Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes fell to a 22-29 loss that ended their hopes of bowl contention. Following tonight’s loss, they are now out of bowl contention. This has led to increased pressure on Coach Prime in his remaining two games this season.

According to PFSN’s playoff meter, the Buffaloes are projected to finish the season 4-7. After earning bowl contention with a 9-4 record last year, this is a disastrous step back for Colorado after losing the likes of Shedeur Sanders and Heisman winner Travis Hunter.

Fans Turn on Deion Sanders as Colorado Misses Out on Bowl Season

After today’s loss against West Virginia, Colorado Buffaloes fans have started to turn on the head coach. The Buffaloes’ head coach is currently one of the highest-paid coaches in college football and is one of the most prominent figures in the nation.

“Deion Sanders is now 16-19 at Colorado. The Buffaloes are 2-8 against ranked teams under him. His contract is one of the 5 highest-paid annual salaries in college football. Let me know when y’all are ready to apologize. Make your apology as loud as the disrespect was.” One fan commented.

If Colorado fired Sanders without cause, he would be owed $33.6 million before Dec. 31, 2025, according to USA TODAY Sports.  Sanders signed a contract extension during the offseason that increased his salary to $54 million.

“Deion Sanders doesn’t have a pulse when it comes to clock management or game theory.” Another fan questioned during the game.

Another aspect of Sanders’ game that has been questioned is his actual coaching skill. During today’s game, while down 10, Colorado had to burn a timeout after being held to 4th and 7. The Buffaloes needed to kick a field goal in order to get within one score.

Deion Sanders has to be the worst coach I’ve ever watched. Jesus Christ dude. You need 2 scores…..1:22 left in the game. All 3 timeouts ….its 4th down and 10 CLEARLY KICK A FG….you call a CRITICAL TIMEOUT with 20 seconds on the play clock and offense still on the field. YOU ARE A JOKE!” One fan angrily stated.

“Deion Sanders just burned a timeout to decide to kick a field goal when it was obviously the right choice. Now, the Buffs don’t have three timeouts to stop the clock. Malpractice,” Another fan questioned the baffling moment.

“Deion Sanders ought to be the GM of Colorado football. Task him with getting players and building the roster. But keep him away from in-game coaching. Far, far away. At this aspect, he’s so bad he makes Nathaniel Hackett look like Andy Reid by comparison.” Another fan suggested.

When Sanders signed with Colorado, the Buffaloes were coming off a 1-11 season. In his first season in charge, Sanders coached them to a 4-8 record. After that, the head coach improved, going 9-4 in 2024 and reaching his first bowl game in Boulder.

Off the coaching field, Sander’s has also had a significant impact at Colorado. After getting multiple talents to flip their commitment, including quarterback Julian Lewis from USC, he also brings in significant revenue to the Buffaloes program.

According to USA Today, the decision to hire Sanders helped lead the department at Colorado to a record $146.6 million in reported revenue and a record $31.2 million in football ticket sales. The head coach signed with the Buffaloes in December 2022.

Despite his apparent shortcomings, Sanders has become one of the most popular and beloved figures in Colorado over the past few years. With this, as well as a substantial buyout, the program will most likely allow the head coach some time to turn things around.
