Carson Beck will meet with Jets GM Darren Mougey ahead of Miami Pro Day, signaling the team's search for a Geno Smith successor.

Former Miami quarterback Carson Beck has a pedigree as a two-time College Football National Champion. He is considered the QB3 in the 2026 NFL Draft behind Fernando Mendoza of Indiana and Ty Simpson of Alabama.

Carson Beck’s NFL Stock in Focus with Jets Meeting Before Miami Pro Day

The New York Jets continue to do their homework on the 2026 quarterback class, with general manager Darren Mougey set to meet with Beck ahead of Miami Pro Day on Monday, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

The meeting proves the franchise’s ongoing search for a long-term solution under center, even after acquiring Geno Smith to serve as their immediate starter. Smith provides stability, but the Jets seem intent on securing a developmental quarterback with upside in the upcoming draft, and Beck fits that profile.

The Jets also hosted ex-Penn State QB Drew Allar recently and followed up with Beck today. The Jets hold two second-round picks at No. 33 and No. 44 but do not have a third-round selection. They may need to use one of those early second-round picks or trade back to re-enter the third round to acquire Beck.

Beck was listed at 6-foot-5 and 233 pounds at the NFL Combine, and he is projected as a late third- to early fourth-round pick. ESPN ranks him as the No. 82 overall prospect and among the top three to four quarterbacks in the 2026 class.

Beck’s college football journey has been unique, as he committed to Georgia, redshirted, and backed up Stetson Bennett for two national championships. When he got the starting job in 2023, he led the SEC in passing with 3,941 yards and 28 total touchdowns and took Georgia to 13-1.

However, his 2024 season was challenging, as Georgia’s offensive line struggled. The run game averaged just 124.4 yards per game, marking the lowest output of the Kirby Smart era. Defenses focused on Beck, who was forced to carry the offense through the air, while his receivers contributed 665 “drop yards” over the season.

Beck later landed at Miami for the 2025 season and got paid handsomely through NIL. He completed 72.4% of his passes for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns last season, helping the Hurricanes go 13-3 and reach the national championship game, which they lost to Indiana. He finished the season as the No. 36 quarterback nationally in the PFSN College Football QB Impact Metric with an 83.3 score.

Analysts praise Beck for his anticipatory throws, smooth mechanics, and quick release, allowing him to deliver catchable passes to all levels of the field. When protected, he can thread the ball precisely to receivers as they break from their routes. However, his decision-making remains a concern, as he has thrown 24 interceptions over the past two seasons.

The Jets aren’t limiting their attention to Beck alone, as Miami’s pro day will also feature other high-end prospects like Francis Mauigoa, Rueben Bain Jr., and Akheem Mesidor.
