Is Bo Nix Related to Jacksonville State DB Caleb Nix? Everything to Know About the Remarkable Football Family

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has been making waves with his stellar NFL play. Is he related to Jacksonville State's Caleb Nix?

Bo Nix is a legendary quarterback, with his years at Auburn serving as some of the most dangerous showmanship at the QB position for the Tigers. After being selected No. 12 overall by the Denver Broncos, Nix concluded his first year in the NFL — 2024 — with 4,205 total yards of offense and 33 total touchdowns.

In 2025, the signal caller has already thrown for 17 touchdowns in only nine games while leading Denver to a 7-2 record entering play against the Las Vegas Raiders. But Nix didn’t accomplish all this without a talented family behind him. This begs the question: Is Nix related to Jacksonville State safety Caleb Nix?

What’s the Relationship Between Bo Nix and Caleb Nix?

Bo’s draft selection came after being named the 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year at Auburn University before transferring to the University of Oregon, where he led the 2023 NCAA season in touchdowns.

But Bo isn’t the only football talent in his family; he also has a brother, Caleb. Additionally, the two have an adopted brother who now plays wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tez Johnson.

According to People, Bo and Caleb’s parents are former football player and coach Patrick and nurse Krista, with Patrick having been an Auburn University legend in his own right.

At one time, Patrick held the Auburn passing record for most completions in a game, with 34 against Arkansas in the 1990s.

Bo and Caleb went from playing backyard football together to playing on the same high school team with Johnson and becoming state champions together. In 2018, their father Patrick coached the team — and his sons — to a Class 6A state championship in Birmingham, Alabama.

The family also includes two sisters: Emma and Sara Nix.

But Caleb in particular is a rising star in the sport who arguably has the potential to match Bo.

Caleb went on to play college football at Clemson as a safety. He is now on the roster for Jacksonville State and is listed as a redshirt junior. In 2025, Caleb has scored one touchdown while also posting 32 total tackles — 3.5 for loss totaling nine yards.

Gravitating toward the sport was seemingly natural for both Caleb and Bo.

The Denver Broncos have thrived with Bo on their roster. Caleb, standing 6-foot, 202 pounds, is already proving himself with Jacksonville State. It’s possible the Nix family is far from finished producing football stars.
