Bill O’Brien Lets Rip With Fiery Message for Eagles Fans as Pressure Builds on Boston College HC

Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien recenetly let out an explosive rant against the media after their 1-8 start to the season following a loss at Notre Dame.

The Boston College Eagles are last in the ACC this year under Bill O’Brien. Boston College is just 1-8 on the campaign, with a 0-5 ACC record. They have lost eight games in a row after losing once again against Notre Dame last weekend.

According to PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter, there is no point in showing up for the rest of the season. They are currently projected to finish the season with a 1-10 record despite early expectations and are ranked 91st in the College Football Power Rankings.

Bill O’Brien Lets Rip With Fiery Message for Eagles Fans

After being criticized by the media following the recent string of poor results at Boston College, the head coach exploded. Boston College is currently the worst team in the ACC, despite having high expectations going into the year.

“I’m glad your down. I’m not down. Nobody’s down, we’re fighting, we’re competing. It’s the second year of this program Mike. You always come here with these down questions. You show up like once a month, you come in here with these down questions.” The head coach stated angrily, continuing his rant.

“I don’t know what year you graduated from BC, but nobody here is down. We’re positive, we’re gonna show up and play our asses off against SMU. You can go out there in your dark cloud world or whatever it is, We’re not down, the Sun is up and we’re still fighting, that’s my message to the fans.” The Boston College head coach finished.

The Boston College head coach had a promising start to life, making a bowl game in year one. He also had an upset victory over Florida State. Things looked promising with the current head coach after the 2024 season.

Instead, after winning in Week 1, they went on an eight-game losing streak. This includes blowout losses to other ACC teams, such as Clemson and Pittsburgh, as the program appears to be in dire straits at the moment. This is not the first time O’Brien has had to make such a statement.

“I’m talking about the people in the team meeting room. The sky is not falling. We got great kids that care about Boston College that play their a**** off. We got coaches working day in and day out to get it right. Outside of the program, sky’s falling. Inside that team meeting room, nobody believes that.” O’Brien stated in October.

According to reports, because Boston College is a private school, there are no publicly available specifics on Bill O’Brien’s current contract, including its duration. However, it is estimated that he is earning around $5 million annually with the Eagles after taking over from NFL defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley in 2024.

This implies that if he signed a five-year deal, a buyout by Boston College would cost roughly $25 million. For context, Brian Kelly was recently bought out of his $54 million contract.

Going into next weekend’s game against SMU, Boston College will take on a Mustangs team that just made history. After beating Miami, this was SMU’s first win over an AP Top 10 team since 1980, with the Hurricanes being ranked No. 10 going into the game.
