Out of all the quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, Miami’s Carson Beck has the most boom-or-bust potential. Beck has a lot of great moments, but there are some questionable moments and throws on his tape. With all this uncertainty, what are the best spots for Beck?
How Carson Beck Fits with the Cleveland Browns
Cleveland has quite an interesting quarterback situation. Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, who were both drafted last year, struggled in the regular season.
According to PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, both quarterbacks got an F grade. Interestingly, they ranked right next to each other, with Gabriel at 47th and Sanders at 46th.
Cleveland is part of the AFC North, which features great quarterback play with Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and possibly Aaron Rodgers. It is imperative that Cleveland improve its signal-caller position.
Bringing in Beck could be a good fit. Sure, he would be the third quarterback drafted by Cleveland in three years, but he fits new head coach Todd Monken’s scheme.
Monken runs a lot of pro-style and West Coast passing, rather than many of the play-action offenses seen around the league.
This means the offense is more focused on pocket passing than on play extension and mobility. With Beck being more of a pocket passer, he could fit Monken’s system well. As a new coach, Monken might want to draft a quarterback who fits his offense.
As mentioned in Beck’s PFSN scouting report, “He had surgery to repair the UCL in his right arm after the 2025 season, and his arm simply hasn’t been the same since.”
If Beck needs time to heal in Cleveland, he could sit behind Sanders or Gabriel if they show improvement.
Could the New York Jets Draft Carson Beck?
The Jets fit many of the same narratives as the Browns. Like Cleveland, the Jets are going to run a pro-style offense by bringing in Frank Reich as their new offensive coordinator.
Additionally, like Cleveland, the Jets need a quarterback, as the Justin Fields experiment did not pan out last year. According to PFSN’s QBi, Fields got a D+ and ranked 33rd.
The Jets did trade for Geno Smith, but Smith is 35, so drafting the 23-year-old Beck would give them a young face. There is a good chance that the Jets could draft and develop Beck under Smith. Beck riding the bench under Smith could work out well for his development.
Cincinnati Bengals: A Developmental Landing Spot
Due to Beck’s injury, he is more likely than not going to be a backup in the NFL at the start. However, there are some good backup spots.
Learning behind one of the smartest quarterbacks in the league, Joe Burrow, would be a solid landing spot for Beck.
The Bengals’ offense struggled mightily when Burrow was out last year due to injury. Bringing in Beck could be a good idea for a Bengals front office that is looking to make a deep playoff run.
Why the Jacksonville Jaguars Are a Potential Fit
Going to another big cat team in the AFC, Beck would be a solid fit with the Jaguars. This is the first team on this list that uses a play-action-oriented offense. However, Beck could be good because he has a similar physical profile to Trevor Lawrence.
Beck weighs 233 pounds and Lawrence weighs 220 pounds, and Lawrence is slightly taller. Bringing in a similar body to Lawrence could be a good idea for Jacksonville.
Can Carson Beck Learn Behind Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Another Florida team, the Buccaneers, could bring in Beck to serve as Baker Mayfield’s backup.
Beck and Mayfield have many similarities. Their arms lack strength, but they are both gunslingers.
BE AN NFL GM: PFSN’s Ultimate GM Simulator
Mayfield has had a good career in the NFL, though it has had its ups and downs. Mayfield could be a solid mentor for Beck if the Buccaneers draft him.
Overall, the net is smaller for Beck due to injuries, but there are still a lot of intriguing options.
