NFL Insider’s Latest Kyler Murray Injury Update Stirs Speculations Around Cardinals QB’s Future

This NFL Insider added more fuel to the fire that the Arizona Cardinals injury update on Kyler Murray could be the final nail in the coffin.

With the Arizona Cardinals being eliminated from the playoffs, all eyes are on the future of this franchise. Quarterback Kyler Murray’s latest injury update revealed that his foot injury is not progressing, which means the team will shut him down for the season.

32-year-old Jacoby Brissett is likely not the long-term answer this team is looking for, but an NFL insider’s latest post had fans speculating.

Adam Schefter Sparks Speculation Kyler Murray Won’t Be With the Cardinals Next Season

Having played in just five games this season, Murray didn’t do enough to get this team where they needed to be.

He’s still third on the team in rushing yards, which puts into perspective how bad they’ve been, but that doesn’t mean that number in particular is enough to save his spot as QB1.

Schefter responded to a post saying the Cardinals had shut Murray down for the season, “Now the question becomes where Kyler Murray is in 2026.”

Cardinals reporter Darren Urban attempted to obtain an update on Murray’s future, an update that head coach Jonathan Gannon was unwilling to provide: “I’m worried about the Rams.”

Come December 7, the Los Angeles Rams come to town for a big-time matchup against the Cardinals.

Shockingly, both Brissett and Murray have a C in PFSN’s QB Impact Metric. They are ranked 19th and 20th, respectively, with Brissett having the slight edge on Murray.

The Cardinals’ former No. 1 overall pick surpassed 20,000 passing yards this season in his seventh year in the league. He has over 3,000 rushing yards as well, to go along with 153 combined touchdowns.

Gannon isn’t worried about Murray playing for the Rams; instead, he’d avoid the question entirely and focus only on the task at hand. While that’s a fine thing to do, preventing the question sheds a whole new light on the situation.

While Gannon knows something that NFL fans don’t, it’s alarming to see Schefter asking where Murray will play next season.

At this point, the Cardinals may want to settle for a lower draft spot and hope for the best. This is a QB-heavy draft class, one that could not come at a better time for Arizona.

If Murray is indeed on his way out, there’s no doubt this team will be drafting his replacement. Whether they sit behind Brissett for a year or not, there’s no better time than to go out and get a quarterback.
