Candace Owens Accuses Former Employer TPUSA of Faking Views for Alternate Super Bowl Halftime Show

Candace Owens turned on her former employer, accusing Turning Point USA of inflating its rival Super Bowl halftime audience.

Candace Owens has thrust herself into the center of the fallout from Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” accusing the group of inflating viewership for its alternate Super Bowl broadcast.

The organization, founded by the late Charlie Kirk and now led by his widow, Erika, staged its own alternative to Bad Bunny’s Apple Music Super Bowl 60 Halftime performance, touting a combined live audience of millions across various platforms.

Shortly after the game, Owens publicly questioned those numbers, alleging that the figures being promoted did not match what viewers could see on the main YouTube stream.

Did Turning Point USA’s Halftime Show Scam Its Viewership Numbers?

Owens, who previously worked as communications director for Turning Point USA and had been a close ally of Charlie Kirk, took to X on the night of Super Bowl 60 to cast doubt on the organization’s claims about its “All-American Halftime Show.”

Internal boosters reportedly promoted the event as a major success, citing more than 5 million simultaneous viewers across multiple channels, including Turning Point’s main YouTube feed, additional YouTube accounts, Rumble streams, and other outlets.

Owens responded by contrasting those claims with a screenshot from an earlier post showing the YouTube stream’s live viewer count dropping below 6,000 at one point. She argued that the discrepancy between that public metric and the touted multimillion audience could not be explained by normal fluctuations or cross-platform totals.

“We have an organization that scammed its views by paying platform advertisers, followed by influencers to pretend they broke records,” she wrote, alleging that paid promotion and coordinated amplification were used to manufacture the appearance of a record-breaking audience.

In another post, Owens went further, suggesting that money and inexperience were driving decisions behind the scenes.

She reacted to the low concurrent count screenshot by saying, “The problem with people who have a lot of money they didn’t earn, is that they tend to have no idea how stuff actually works. No, this is not a possible result if you truly had 5.2 million live viewers.”

She then predicted a specific strategy to reconcile the numbers after the fact, adding, “Note: what they will do now is spend an offensive amount on YouTube ads overnight to bring their viewership up while we sleep.”

Owens Unimpressed With Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

Owens’ criticism was not limited to her former employer. In the same series of posts, she made clear she disliked both the official Super Bowl halftime performance and the rival “All-American Halftime Show,” framing the entire standoff as a symptom of a larger political and cultural divide.

Referencing Bad Bunny’s Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, she wrote, “I am sorry but I hate both options. On the one hand, we have a half-time show presented without a word of English spoken. On the other hand we have an organization that scammed its views by paying platform advertisers, followed by influencers to pretend they broke records. The left vs. right grift is actually boring now. What exactly are we doing here, America?”

Her posts came as Bad Bunny’s performance, featuring an all-Spanish set list and guest appearances, continued to draw sharp reactions from some conservative commentators and politicians.

Owens echoed those complaints about language and presentation, portraying the halftime landscape as a choice between a show she argued was disconnected from English-speaking audiences and a countershow she accused of misrepresenting its reach.

She also weighed in on wider concerns about who benefits from these high-profile events.

Taken together, Owens’ comments highlighted both her break with Turning Point USA’s current leadership and her ongoing skepticism of the NFL’s entertainment decisions.
