Cam Skattebo became one of the faces of the New York Giants. The running back had a great start to the season, but his rookie year was cut short after eight games due to a dislocated ankle. He’s currently in rehab, but the expectation is that he’ll be 100% when the next season starts.
Cam Skattebo Reveals Story of Mess-Up When Meeting With the New York Giants
Skattebo joined the team together with Jaxson Dart. Along with Malik Nabers, the young offensive trio brought excitement to the fans even in a season that finished with a 4-13 record.
However, he was lucky that the Giants still wanted him after a poor pre-draft meeting.
Making an appearance on “Roommates Show”, the running back told a story about how his top-30 visit with the New York Giants went poorly. He slept in, was late to the meeting, and believed that his chances of playing in New York were doomed.
“I was late to a meeting. I landed in Jersey at 3 a.m., had to be at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. for a physical, and I woke up at 6:30. I was supposed to be on the bus by 6 a.m. Got to the bus, and they drove us to the city to do the exams.
“I got to the facility, all the meetings were pushed back because I was late when I left the building after being interviewed, I was like, ‘there’s no chance they’re taking me’.”

Skattebo went on to explain that he did not feel “extra interest” from the Giants, but explained that he believes this was done on purpose to avoid agents leveraging with other teams. The Giants took him with a fourth-round pick, 105th overall, in the 2025 draft.
His performances were among the few reasons Giants fans were excited in 2025. He finished the year with 410 yards and 5 touchdowns in eight games, taking over the starter spot from Tyrone Tracy before going down with an injury. His aggressive running style quickly spread across the fan base.
Now in his second season, Skattebo and the Giants will be led by John Harbaugh, who signed with the Giants after an 18-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens. Our PFSN RB Impact Metric wasn’t fond of the rookie, ranking him as No. 39 in the 2025 season.
