Bill Belichick is no stranger to controversy. As the longtime head coach of the New England Patriots, he dealt with Spygate, Deflategate, and countless rumors. His gruff demeanor made him an easy target for media criticism, often painted as an unfriendly, win-at-all-costs coach.
Now, as the head coach at the University of North Carolina, it’s not Belichick’s playbook making headlines — it’s his personal life. The 73-year-old has reportedly been dating 24-year-old Jordan Hudson for over two years.
Hudson, a former cheerleader and beauty pageant contestant, has been acting as Belichick’s manager. Despite having no formal training in publicity or brand management, she oversees his personal ventures outside of his university role. Their 49-year age gap has sparked debate online and in the media, including criticism from one of Belichick’s former players, Cam Newton.

Cam Newton Says Bill Belichick Is Breaking His Own Rule
Newton discussed Belichick’s relationship on a recent episode of his podcast, “4th & 1 with Cam Newton.” He spent the 2020 season in New England under Belichick, serving as the first quarterback to follow Tom Brady.
Speaking to co-host Omari “Peggy” Collins, Newton said Belichick made a strong impression during his time with the team, especially with one core message: “Don’t be a distraction.”
That’s why Newton said he’s puzzled by the situation now. He also questioned Hudson’s motives, noting she seems to have a “type” — older, wealthy men.
“But is it safe to say that without old Bill Belichick, would she even be known? Relevant?” Newton asked. “I don’t want to be misogynistic, and I don’t want to be disrespectful.”
Newton added that when he played for the Patriots, Belichick was dating Linda Holliday — someone Newton said had the “perfect look” and was closer in age. He implied Belichick has since changed.
“Bill turned into a city boy,” Newton joked, adding, “I’m going to be the one that say it. Hate me. Despise me. But somebody got to keep it real. Date your age. If you’re asking me my unpopular opinion, if you date your age, none of this will be your situation.”
Belichick has maintained that Hudson has no role in his work at UNC. After reports surfaced that Hudson had been banned from the Chapel Hill campus, Belichick stated he is committed to Hudson and the university.
UNC athletic director Bubba Chandler later clarified that there had been no discussion about banning Hudson from campus.
Belichick was always going to draw attention. When the second-winningest coach in NFL history leaves the league for the college ranks, people take notice. Add in his high-profile relationship, and the spotlight only grows.
Known for staying calm amid chaos, all eyes will be on how Belichick navigates the scrutiny and his new chapter at UNC.
