C.J. Stroud’s performance during the first half of NFL’s Monday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field drew the ire of Houston Texans fans. Poor decisions, sloppy passes, and constant lack of focus caused widespread irritation on social media and sparked a movement to bench the QB starting in Week 8.

C.J. Stroud Looked Completely Lost During MNF and Made Too Many Mistakes

One of the most significant plays was the loss of 18-yards when Stroud decided to run backwards inside his own end zone. Even though he managed to prevent a safety, he ended up allowing the Texans to score an easy touchdown shortly thereafter.

Early in the third quarter, Stroud gave Texans fans even more reason to be frustrated when he was intercepted by Ernest Jones on the first play after halftime, leaving the Seahawks with a two-possession lead.

Considering that the Texans only have the 18th best offense of the season according to the PFSN Offense Impact Ranking, a comeback seemed unlikely. The demonstrations in favor of Stroud began shortly after the start of Monday Night Football between the Texans and Seahawks.

One angry fan even called for a more drastic decision, demanding that the entire coaching staff be fired immediately after the end of the game in an attempt to save a regular season that seems to be nearing an early end in terms of playoff hopes.

“Bench Stroud, fire the entire coaching staff right now and forfeit. How does everything get worse that fast?!” the fan wrote.

“How do you not bench stroud?” another user added.

One fan pointed out that Stroud’s poor performance was considered to be the “second worst QB in the league”, preventing Jaylin Noel from making a more positive impact during MNF. The 23-year-old wide receiver is one of the Texans’ hopes for still being able to dream bigger during the regular season.

“Aight.. Stroud needs to see a bench for a week or two,” another fan commented.

“Damn Cj stroud scared to run ball, got damn,” another user posted.

Stroud made a positive impact during his rookie season in the NFL, but ended up having considerable inconsistency issues during his second season, which are repeating themselves during the current season.

It is important to note that the starting quarterback has been practically perfect in the last two games, with a passer rating of 142.7 and a completion percentage of 81.8% and zero interceptions, so the natural course of action does not point to a substitution at this point in the season. As detailed by PFSN’S Kyle Soppe before Week 7, Stroud has performed well over the past two weeks and deserved a vote of confidence.

But Stroud’s poor performance during MNF drew a lot of negative attention, and the outrage was noticeable on social media, with one fan writing that the QB had an “ugly disposition,” while another claimed that Stroud was “playing the goofiest half of football” during the first two quarters.
