Calls Mount for Dolphins to ‘Tank’ as Fans Are Furious With Tua Tagovailoa After 2 Major Mistakes in Season Opener

Miami Dolphins fans have not been impressed with QB Tua Tagovailoa, saying he could tank Miami's season before it really begins.

The Miami Dolphins aren’t getting off to the best start in Week 1 of the 2025 regular season under quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

In the first quarter against the Indianapolis Colts, Colts safety Camryn Bynum recorded his first interception with Indy when he intercepted Tagovailoa’s overthrown pass intended for Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill. Additionally, Tagovailoa was also strip-sacked earlier in the matchup.

Fans React to Poor Play from Tua Tagovailoa in Season Opener

NFL and Miami fans alike have not taken to Tagovailoa’s performance so far very well.

“He won’t be starting by the end of the year,” said one fan on X.

“Another lame duck season because the owner didn’t rebuild after last year,” said another.

“That’s a simple overthrow. Tua had time. His receiver was open. Nobody to blame but himself,” another fan said.

Tagovailoa is a former No. 5 overall pick from the 2020 NFL Draft. Since his time playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide, the signal-caller has a 68.1 completion percentage and has thrown for 100 touchdowns. Tagovailoa has also rushed for 430 yards and six touchdowns in his career so far.

However, fans are pointing out that despite his track record he could tank the Dolphins’ season before it really even begins.

“Tank tank tank tank tank,” said one fan.

Tagovailoa’s previously mentioned interception is added to his career total of 44 (now 45), including the 19 he threw in 2024.

“Hell ya! Great interception. That was an awful throw by Tua,” one fan said. Other complaints, including and “Sub him out already” rang out across social media.

The Dolphins finished with an 8-9 overall record in 2024, including recording only three wins on the road and five at Hard Rock Stadium.

“Tua Turndaballoa on season shape,” said another fan.

As Miami’s game against the Colts goes to halftime, Tagovailoa is 5-for-7 for 42 yards and that pick. They trail 20-0. The Dolphins are scheduled to take on the New England Patriots under new head coach Mike Vrabel during Week 2.
