The 2025 season marked a turning point for the Miami Dolphins franchise, following a challenging 2024 season. Another down season would necessitate significant changes.
After a 2-7 start to the season, general manager Chris Grier mutually agreed to part ways with the franchise. However, despite a four-game win streak following his firing, the struggles against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football in Week 15 have put quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the spotlight.
Fans Roast Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa After Poor Week 15 Outing
After a career-high season in 2023, Tagovailoa has come crashing down to earth, struggling to maintain any consistency over the past two seasons. After learning Mike McDaniel’s offense, Tagovailoa went off in 2023, completing 388 of 560 passes for 4,625 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
While he was able to lower the interception total in 2024, he also played in six fewer games due to injuries. He has not missed any games in 2025, but the struggles have continued, as he has matched his 2023 interception total in just 13 games. He surpassed that total with a brutal interception on Monday Night Football in Week 15 as he continues to show fans that it’s time to move on from the former Alabama signal-caller.
As former Dolphins and NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe explained, “This last month is the worst Tua Tagovailoa has looked as a pro – despite the wins – just doesn’t look like the same player at all. Tua isn’t playing as decisive & accurate as he has in previous years. Leads the NFL in INTs and big plays minimal. It limits Miami’s offense.”

He was not the only NFL analyst calling for a change. ESPN’s Monday Night SportsCenter co-host Ryan Clark begged Miami to put in the backup, posting, “Zach Wilson!”

Not even PFSN’s writers could hold back from posting about the poor quarterback performance. After watching a wild incompletion on second and 11, this PFSN writer couldn’t believe what he was watching as Tagovailoa took an 11-yard sack, posting, “He’s so bad.”

However, fans were not pleased with many taking it to the Dolphins’ starting QB, such as this fan saying, “How much more will it take until Quinn Ewers sees the field? My goodness, Tua is just awful.”

Not even Miami’s 2020 Fan of the Year Big E could keep things positive watching the Dolphins’ Monday Night effort in Week 15, posting, “Time to move on from Tua.”

Unfortunately for Miami fans, the loss eliminates them from playoff contention and unleashes a slew of questions to answer. Is Tagovailoa a part of the future? What about McDaniel? It’s going to be a huge offseason, full of important decisions for Miami’s new general manager to make, determining the future of this franchise.
