The Buffalo Bills have been one of the AFC’s favorites to make the Super Bowl since the season began. However, over the past month, Buffalo has shown major cracks that are making everyone second-guess their reliability.
One of their major issues has been their receiving core, which has seen multiple new additions in the past few weeks, including Brandin Cooks on Tuesday. Even after all these new additions, one former receiver believes the Bills have no chance at winning the Super Bowl.
Former WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh Believes Bills Will Fall Short of the Super Bowl
On Tuesday’s episode of the “Speakeasy Podcast,” former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh was a guest. Houshmandzadeh said, “The Bills don’t have a chance to win a Super Bowl, so it doesn’t matter. I have all the respect in the world for Brandon Beane. I have a lot of respect for the guys on their coaching staff and front office. They know this, they aren’t winning a Super Bowl in Buffalo.”
He added,” They don’t have enough firepower. That’s what you’ve just shown, you’re like, oh, he’s holding the ball. He’s (Josh Allen) holding the ball because he needs somebody to get open. And Brandin Cooks, he’s not making a difference.”

While Houshmandzadeh’s comments seem crazy, they aren’t exactly far off from the truth. No front office or coaching staff will ever publicly admit that they don’t have the horses to win a Super Bowl, especially a team like the Bills. Even so, just looking at their roster and the way they have played over the past month proves everything.
In two out of the Bills’ last four games, their offense has been held to under 20 points. Buffalo’s failure to score points is tied to the fact that their receivers are unable to get open. This forces Allen to be Superman, which has led to ineffective offense.

The Bills’ problem goes beyond Allen and the receiver not connecting, though. Buffalo’s defense has many issues. Although they are the 13th-best defense, according to PSFN’s defensive impact metric, it doesn’t always look like that on the field. Buffalo’s biggest issue is their inability to stop the run, which has plagued them for the past few seasons.
Pair that up with Allen having to carry the load to make up for the ineffectiveness of the receivers, it’s not a Super Bowl-winning formula.
