The Tampa Bay Buccaneers usually wear special uniforms on a few occasions, but this time, they’ll be doing so more than usual. 2025 is the franchise’s 50th anniversary, and the Bucs are pulling out all the stops. In their home opener, they’ll be wearing their signature creamsicle jersey along with a special tribute to 1976.
Explaining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 3 Jerseys
Once again, the Buccaneers have started 2-0. QB Baker Mayfield has looked phenomenal in the team’s first two games, both nailbitters that required him to lead game winning drives. In Week 1, they took down the Atlanta Falcons, 23-20. Then on Monday Night Football they took down the Houston Texans, 20-19.
Sadly for the Buccaneers, neither of those comeback wins was at home. While it had to feel good to send the crowd home quiet in Atlanta and Houston, it would’ve been much nicer to do it at home. Now, Mayfield and company are set for their first game at Raymond James Stadium.

With the team’s 2025 season celebrating the franchise’s 50th anniversary, it’s only fitting for them to go back to 1976. Upon doing so, they’ll be wearing their complete original 1976 uniform, according to Buccaneers staff writer and reporter, Brianna Dix.
“The modern rendition of the 1976 jersey is a tribute to the team’s inaugural uniform design and its role in shaping the Bucs’ identity,” Dix wrote. “The ’76 Jersey captures the original design detail from the franchise’s inaugural season, featuring the iconic orange numbers with red outlines that the team only wore during that debut season.”
She added, “Each jersey includes a special Creamsicle 50th season patch and the iconic three‑stripe sleeve pattern – red, orange, and red – faithfully recreated from the initial design and updated for today’s modern NFL fit. Completing the throwback set are Creamsicle-era helmets, paired with white pants and striped socks.”
Three years after the team debuted, they coined the fight song “Hey! Hey! Tampa Bay!”. In a bit of a mashup, the Bucs have opted to include that fight song on the design. It’ll be stitched on the inside collar as Tampa Bay fully embraces where they came from.
Unsurprisingly, this will not be the only time the Bucs wear these jerseys this season. They will don their signature “Creamsicle” jerseys when they travel to Seattle in Week 5 and also when Atlanta comes to town in Week 15. It’ll be a Thursday Night Football showdown for the ages as HC Todd Bowles’ squad represents the orange and white.
