NFL quarterback Bryce Young has always had the support of his parents, Craig and Julie. Bryce was a highly successful quarterback in college and is entering his second season with the Carolina Panthers. Let’s introduce you to Bryce Young’s parents; he simply wouldn’t be who he is without them.
Bryce Young’s Dad, Craig Young
Craig Young has been a licensed therapist for over 25 years and has worked as a consultant, motivational speaker, and counselor throughout his career. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, where he graduated from UCLA, and a master’s degree in Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College.
Craig’s father (Bryce’s grandfather) played quarterback in high school and college. Craig owns a company called Young Consulting Group, LLC. He is active on social media, such as Instagram and X, where he posts about his family, football, and motivation.
Bryce Young’s Mom, Julie Young
Julie worked as a special education teacher for 25 years, per the Associated Press. Julie now lives a private life without social media, enjoying her son’s success. Bryce has stated multiple times the importance of his mother in his career and has always shown her support by showing up to everything.
Bryce did not know his mom Julie was an athlete. To be exact, she was a star soccer player in high school, traveling to Australia with the U16 national team and playing in college at Cal Poly Pomona. She later taught Bryce humility by never sharing these accomplishments with him.
“I didn’t know this about her for almost my entire childhood,” Bryce said about his mom last September. “It took for someone else to tell me just how good she was. Then, when I asked her, she said, ‘Oh, I tried my best. I had fun.’ But in reality, she was one of the best players in the country.”
“They are some of the most humble and empathetic people I have ever been around,” he said of his parents. “That’s something that was always in my upbringing and was always a point of emphasis. I think my parents did a great job leading by example.”
A Look at Bryce Young’s Parents
Craig and Julie have been together for over 30 years; they were married on July 29, 1995.
Craig and Julie gave birth to Bryce on July 25, 2001, in Philadelphia, Pa. Both his parents are of African-American descent. The parents shifted to California when Bryce was still very young and actively invested their time and efforts in his football career after noticing his talents and love for the game.
They got a quarterback coach for Bryce when he was only five years old so that he could start training at an early age. Bryce has been grateful to his parents for the support they had for him throughout his life.
“[Thank you to] my mom, for always having my back, for always supporting me,” Bryce said during his Heisman Trophy-winning speech. It’s not always easy. I’m always running around. Not all the time do you understand, but you always had my back, you always supported me, and for that I’m forever grateful. I’d like to thank the rest of my family, too— everyone out there who supported me. I’m super grateful.”
