    Bryce Young’s Dad, Craig Young

Craig Young has been a licensed therapist for over 25 years, working as a consultant, motivational speaker, and counselor throughout his career. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, where he graduated from UCLA, and a master’s degree in Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College.

Craig’s father (Bryce’s grandfather) played quarterback in high school and college. Craig owns a company called Young Consulting Group, LLC. He is active on social media platforms, such as Instagram and X, where he shares content about his family, football, and motivational messages.

    Bryce Young’s Mom, Julie Young

Julie worked as a special education teacher for 25 years, per the Associated Press. She now lives a private life, free from social media, and enjoys her son’s success. Bryce has repeatedly emphasized the importance of his mother in his career and has consistently shown her support by attending every event.

Bryce did not know his mom, Julie, was an athlete. To be exact, she was a star soccer player in high school, traveling to Australia with the U16 national team and playing in college at Cal Poly Pomona. She later taught Bryce humility by never sharing these accomplishments with him.

“I didn’t know this about her for almost my entire childhood,” Bryce said about his mom last September. “It took for someone else to tell me just how good she was. Then, when I asked her, she said, ‘Oh, I tried my best. I had fun.’ But in reality, she was one of the best players in the country.”

“They are some of the most humble and empathetic people I have ever been around,” he said of his parents. “That’s something that was always in my upbringing and was always a point of emphasis. I think my parents did a great job leading by example.”

A Look at Bryce Young’s Parents

Craig and Julie have been together for over 30 years; they were married on July 29, 1995.

Craig and Julie gave birth to Bryce on July 25, 2001, in Philadelphia, PA. Both of his parents are of African American descent. The parents shifted to California when Bryce was still very young and actively invested their time and efforts in his football career after noticing his talents and love for the game.

They hired a quarterback coach for Bryce when he was only five years old, allowing him to start training at an early age. The Panthers star has always been grateful to his parents for the support they have given him throughout his life.

“[Thank you to] my mom, for always having my back, for always supporting me,” Bryce said during his Heisman Trophy-winning speech. It’s not always easy. I’m always running around. Not all the time do you understand, but you always had my back, you always supported me, and for that I’m forever grateful. I’d like to thank the rest of my family, too, and everyone out there who supported me. I’m super grateful.”

Young is slowly cementing himself as the franchise quarterback in Carolina. In 10 games this season, he has thrown for 1,962 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions, while completing 62.7% of his throws.

Carolina Panthers’ Insights for Week 12
