Browns Named Ideal Landing Spot for Dallas Goedert as David Njoku Nears Exit

PFSN’s Jacob Westendorf recently named the Browns as one of tight end Dallas Goedert’s ideal landing spots. Goedert enters free agency seeking a long-term contract after eight years with the Eagles. This season, he posted a 78.5 PFSN TE Impact Score. Over his career, he has recorded 35 touchdown receptions and has been a key contributor in Philadelphia’s postseason runs.

The PFSN analysis cited schematic fit under head coach Todd Monken as a primary reason for connecting Goedert to the Browns. During his tenure as offensive coordinator in Baltimore, Monken utilized multiple tight end personnel groupings featuring Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. The Browns currently have rookie Harold Fannin Jr., who saw increased usage late in the 2025 season.

Goedert’s experience in high-leverage playoff games and his role in a winning environment were also noted. The Browns are in the process of reshaping their offense under Monken and will need some free agent talent to balance what is expected to be a young unit.

This projection comes weeks after Njoku posted a farewell message on social media, confirming he will seek a new team for the 2026 season. Njoku’s exit creates a clear vacancy in two-tight-end sets for the Browns entering the new league year.

Njoku spent nine seasons with the Browns after being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He ranks second in franchise history among tight ends with 384 receptions. His 34 touchdown receptions rank sixth in team history, and his 4,062 receiving yards rank 12th overall.

Njoku’s most productive season came in 2023, when he recorded 81 receptions for 882 yards and six touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. His production declined in 2025, finishing with 33 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games. He ranked No. 48 in PFSN’s TE Impact Metric with a C- grade last season.

Free agency opens with the legal tampering period on March 9 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Contracts can officially be signed when the new league year begins on March 11 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Goedert remains under contract with Philadelphia until the start of the league year and is eligible to re-sign with the Eagles before free agency opens.

But if a deal is not struck, then the Browns would be a suitable option for the veteran pass catcher.
