If Cleveland Browns fans were looking for a solid answer on whether quarterback Shedeur Sanders would be the team’s No. 1 option at the position, then they are going to have to wait a little bit.
Browns offensive coordinator Travis Switzer, who is new to the organization, plans to look at all options available at the quarterback spot.
Browns OC Non-Committal on QB Shedeur Sanders
On Wednesday, WENS sports reporter Camryn Justice posted a video clip on X of Switzer discussing the pieces he has to work with now in the Browns’ offense.
“It starts with Fannin, Jeudy, Shedeur and what he was able to show last year, Deshaun in what he’s shown in his past and Dillon in what he was able to show last year as well,” Justice said.
Switzer offered some additional comments about the Browns’ offense at this point, from his perspective as a new offensive coordinator with the organization.
“We’re excited about Dillon (Gabriel), and we’re excited about Deshaun (Watson),” Switzer said. “You know, any time you have a guy who has had the success that he’s had, I mean, he’s got to be a part of the equation as far as competing for that job.
“And then Shedeur (Sanders), and what he was able to show last year,” Switzer said. “He’s still young and he has a lot of growth that he can still achieve, especially Year 1 to Year 2. I mean he only started what, six or seven games last year?”

Switzer added that there’s a lot of excitement about the quarterback room that the Browns already have in place. However, there’s still no timetable for determining who the starting quarterback will be. Switzer indicated that those things “tend to work themselves out as far as who that’s going to be.”
He also indicated that the battle for the starting quarterback role is an open competition. When will that take place? Switzer offered a three-word answer: “We don’t know.”
According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, which are measured through the regular season, Sanders had an impact score of 56.9 and graded out to an F. Sanders posted a 56.6% pass completion percentage last season. He totaled 1,400 passing yards, 7 touchdown passes, and 14 interceptions.
And, if Browns fans were wondering if Gabriel was any better, his PFSN NFL QB Impact score was at 51.0, and he graded out to an F as well.
