David Njoku trade rumors clarified by Browns insider in Week 9 as the deadline approaches for the 2025 NFL season.

David Njoku has been one of the names involved in NFL trade rumors ahead of the 2025 deadline. He has spent his entire career with the Cleveland Browns as a key contributor to their offense, but his run with the franchise could potentially be coming to an end.

A Browns insider recently gave an update on the situation regarding the team’s plan for their veteran tight end. They did so during an interview with “The Fan” in Cleveland.

Browns Insider Clarifies David Njoku Trade Rumors

Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot recently appeared on “The Fan” and spoke about trade rumors ahead of the deadline, which will come on November 4th for the 2025 NFL season. Njoku was one of the names she discussed, as he has been mentioned as a possible trade candidate this year.

“They are not seeking to trade David Njoku. If someone calls with an offer they can’t refuse, like with Joe Flacco and Greg Newsome, they are listening to all offers. That’s what happens this time of year,” explained Cabot.

The Browns are apparently not seeking out a trade for Njoku, but if the right offer comes along, they may not be opposed to moving him. He is now in his ninth year with the team and has totaled 4,029 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns along the way, so this could be the end of an ear for them at the position.

Rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. is off to an impressive start to his career with the Browns and may be a part of the reason why the Browns may be open to trading Njoku. He has recorded more receptions and yards than the veteran this year and appears to be their long-term answer at tight end.

PFSN’s Impact Rankings list Fannin as the 14th-ranked tight end this year, while Njoku comes in at just 36th so far. The rookie has recorded 11 more receptions and 92 more receiving yards than the veteran ahead of their Week 9 bye. Cleveland also has just a 2-6 record right now, so their focus is likely to be on their younger players going forward.

The Browns are essentially in the middle of rebuilding their roster, so potentially trading their 29-year-old tight end for future draft picks would make sense. He has exceeded 50 receptions and 500 yards in each of the past three seasons, so contending teams may have interest in adding him to their offense, especially those with a need to upgrade their tight ends.
