In last night’s Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos game, the Broncos won in overtime by a score of 33-30. Despite the win, the team suffered a loss with quarterback Bo Nix suffering a playoff-ending injury.
With Nix out for the rest of the postseason, the Broncos announced that they are signing a quarterback to their roster.
Denver Broncos Sign Veteran Quarterback in Wake of Bo Nix Injury
With the Nix injury, NFL Insider Jonathan Jones announced that the Broncos are signing a veteran quarterback to fill in. Jones wrote on his X account:
“The Broncos are signing veteran QB Ben DiNucci, source tells @MooseOnAir, @BMac_SportsTalk and me. DiNucci was on the Broncos practice squad in 2023 and knows Denver’s offense well. Denver gets some help behind Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger for the AFC title game.”
With the move, Ben DiNucci wrote on his X account, “It has come to my attention that a team may be in need of my services… Good thing my schedule is open this week. Broncos country… Let’s go get a Super Bowl?”

DiNucci was selected in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the 231st overall pick, by the Dallas Cowboys and has played only three games, all in 2020. The stats aren’t anything crazy.
In 3 career games, he attempted 43 passes and completed 23, for a completion percentage of 53.5% and 219 yards, with no touchdowns. He’s also rushed six times for 22 yards.

Besides the Cowboys, he played with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL, the Broncos’ practice squad (2023), and, most recently, the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he played during the 2025 preseason. Now, he finds himself back in Denver.
DiNucci probably won’t play for the Broncos, but he will act as a depth piece in case their other signed quarterbacks get hurt. Sean Payton has already announced that Jarrett Stidham will start the next game, against the New England Patriots. After that, it’ll be Sam Ehlinger and DiNucci on stand-by.
Unfortunately, Nix got injured, and it appears that it’ll be up to their iron-clad defense to lead them the rest of the way. This season, they rank first in the PFSN NFL Defensive Impact Metric with an impact score of 90.1 and a letter grade of A-.
