The Denver Broncos have to be feeling relatively good about their fortunes heading into the 2025 season. An incredible rookie year for Bo Nix paired with the best defense in the league led to Denver’s first playoff appearance in nearly a decade.
But the Broncos could always stand to get better, and one analyst has a bold idea to make sure that they take that necessary step forward.

Potential Trade Partners for Denver Broncos?
Last season, Denver built a postseason appearance on the back of a defense that finished as the best in the league per PFSN’s Defense+ metric. However, offense wasn’t their strong suit, especially with a rookie quarterback at the helm.
Nix should theoretically take a step forward in Year 2. However, head coach Sean Payton has made it clear that the team needs more offensive options, including a do-it-all Joker. Evan Engram could be a potential answer to the Joker conundrum, but analyst Kyle Soppe has a draft day trade to further help their cause.
Why Denver? “Sean Payton wasn’t shy about moving up draft boards to go get his targets during his time with the New Orleans Saints, and I don’t think there’s any reason to think that changes now that he has a franchise signal-caller under center.”
As a result, Soppe envisions the Broncos going after Tetairoa McMillan in the first round. The Arizona Wildcat has had conflicting projections about him, but the best-case scenario is he develops into a genuine game-changer.
For the Wildcats, he added over 1,300 yards in back-to-back seasons, while becoming an elite end-zone threat with 26 touchdowns over his collegiate career. That kind of firepower might be exactly what the doctor ordered for Denver.
“The ability of McMillan and [Courtland] Sutton to both produce in a variety of ways next to the steadying skill set of free-agent signee Evan Engram would give this offense a real chance to improve after ranking as the 10th-best scoring offense (25.0 PPG) in PFSN’s Offense+ metric last season.”
However, that still leaves the question of where, and Soppe doesn’t have a clear answer yet. Instead, it might be a case-by-case situation where any number of teams, from the Chicago Bears, the Miami Dolphins, the Cincinnati Bengals, or even the Dallas Cowboys become their partners.
The latest mock draft from PFSN isn’t being as creative. Instead, it has Denver adding Matthew Golden out of Texas, who projects to be one of the best available wide receivers anyway.
Jacob Infante had a similar idea of adding help to maximize the potential Nix has shown so far. As a result, he went with Golden, who he describes as “a coordinated, intelligent route runner with impressive body control attacking the ball in the air,” which has led to him being the subject of plenty of buzz in recent weeks.
