The Denver Broncos have one of the most physical defenses in the league right now. PFSN’s Defense Impact ranks it no. 1 this season with a score of 91.3 and an A- grade. Even so, the AFC West is extremely competitive, and with the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers boasting explosive offenses, they need to tighten up even more.
With that in mind, PFSN’s Jacob Infante predicted that Sean Payton’s team could make the most of the New York Jets’ struggles to address one concern that might make a difference-maker.
The Denver Broncos Should Trade For Quincy Williams
The Jets will enter the trade deadline sitting on a league-worst 1-7 record. As such, veteran stars like Quincy Williams could be on their way out:
“As you can probably tell by the way this list looks so far, the Jets find themselves in selling mode at the NFL trade deadline (trust me, there’s more),” Infante wrote. “Another one of their key defenders is 2023 All-Pro Quincy Williams, who could be a valuable addition to a contending team in need of a linebacker.”
The Broncos’ defense has been quite solid, but they haven’t been as dominant against the run as they’ve been against the pass, hence the need to add a player of Williams’ caliber:
“The Denver Broncos find themselves in that situation. Their current linebacker duo of Dre Greenlaw and Alex Singleton has struggled with stopping the run this season. They figure to be buyers this year at 6-2, and adding a star player up front could help them continue their push for dominance in the competitive AFC,” he added.
According to Spotrac, Williams is signed to a three-year, $18 million contract. His base salary of just $6.5 million for the season is a huge bargain, especially given that the Jets have already paid for almost half of that.
And even though he’s slated to become a free agent after this year, he’s about to turn 30, so he could still be a part of their plans for the future.

Williams has missed four games this season with a shoulder injury, but he was activated for their last game after spending a month on Injured Reserve.
He’s started all four games he’s played for Aaron Glenn’s team, and Williams has compiled 22 total tackles (11 solo), four passes defensed, three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
The Broncos are giving up the fewest points in the league (18.9), the tenth-fewest rushing yards (95.1) per game, and rank first in third-down conversion percentage allowed (29.9 percent). Still, even good things can be better, and Williams could take that unit to another level.
