The Broncos were in striking distance of the Super Bowl before Bo Nix suffered a season-ending injury in the AFC Divisional Round. With the offseason underway, tight end has emerged as a position that could help Denver take the next step. Denver invested in a veteran at the position last year, and the results fell short, reopening the discussion about adding a proven presence who can elevate Sean Payton’s offense.
PFSN Projects Dallas Goedert As a Potential Fit for the Broncos After Evan Engram Struggles
In a recent free agency projection, PFSN’s Jacob Infante named the Denver Broncos as a potential landing spot for Super Bowl-winning tight end Dallas Goedert.
Goedert, 31, is coming off a productive 2025 season in Philadelphia. He logged 446 offensive snaps and caught 60 of 82 targets for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns. He added four receptions for 33 yards in the postseason. He also earned a 78.5 PFSN TE Impact Score and ranked 16th. Philadelphia finished 11-6, won the NFC East, and was eliminated in the Wild Card round by the 49ers.
Infante noted that Denver could benefit from adding championship experience as it looks to capitalize on a roster that showed it can compete in the AFC. Payton has historically incorporated tight ends heavily into his offensive structure, and Goedert’s profile as a reliable intermediate target and capable run blocker fits that blueprint.

The projection follows a disappointing 2025 season from Evan Engram. Signed to provide versatility in Payton’s scheme, Engram averaged less than five targets per game and finished the year with one touchdown.
He played fewer than 50% of the offensive snaps in 13 of his 16 appearances and ranked 46th in PFSN’s TEi Metric. The anticipated “joker” role in Denver’s offense never materialized.
The Broncos finished 14-3, secured the AFC’s No. 1 seed, and advanced to the Divisional Round before Nix’s injury derailed their postseason push.

Before Nix’s injury, Denver’s passing attack leaned heavily on perimeter playmakers. The team struggled to find a tight end who could consistently win in gotta-have-it situations. Adding a veteran with red-zone production and postseason experience would address a need that surfaced as the season progressed.
As free agency approaches, tight end is once again part of the broader conversation about how Denver can return to the AFC Championship. Theoretically, Goedert would provide instant red-zone credibility to an offense that finished ranked 21st in red zone scoring percentage.
There is a chance Goedert returns to the Eagles, but if he hits the open market, he is expected to have a range of potential suitors.
