Why Does NFL Great Brett Favre Say He Won’t Watch Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show?

While many fans across the country have openly discussed boycotting the performance, Favre’s criticism comes from a different perspective, setting his stance apart from the broader public reaction.

Former Green Bay Packers legend Favre reacted to the Super Bowl 60 halftime show via his podcast “4th and Favre.” When the host of the podcast asked him about the Super Bowl, he said, “I’m going to watch Kid Rock. Kid Rock, Le. I mean there’s a bunch of them. Nothing against Bad Bunny. I really don’t know what he’s saying. That doesn’t mean I like him or dislike him, but I’m going to go with what I…”

Former NFL quarterback Favre made it clear that his decision has nothing to do with controversy or outrage. It comes down to familiarity and personal taste.

In a post on X, Favre admitted he is not familiar with Bad Bunny or his music, saying he cannot judge whether it is good or bad because he simply does not know it.
Instead, Favre said he plans to watch artists he already recognizes and enjoys, specifically naming Lee Brice and Kid Rock. His stance reflects a preference for music within his comfort zone rather than a protest against the Super Bowl halftime show itself.

“Not familiar with Bad Bunny so don’t know if his music is good or bad,” Favre said. “I’m just going to watch what I know Lee Brice, Kid Rock All-American Halftime Show.”

And unsurprisingly, NBA star Kevin Durant was asked the same question and offered a similar response. When asked to name his favorite Bad Bunny song, Durant admitted he has not listened to any music from the Grammy Award winner, saying he is simply not familiar with his work.

So, it is quite clear why football fans like Favre and Durant are not going to watch the halftime show. The most crucial piece missing is the language barrier, and the other one is, of course, the artist’s controversial political opinions.

Bad Bunny is best known for a handful of breakout hits that define his mainstream success. Songs like “Dakiti,” “Me Porto Bonito,” and “Tití Me Preguntó” became global chart toppers, while “Mía,” featuring Drake, helped introduce him to a wider international audience. Tracks such as “Yonaguni” and “Yo Perreo Sola” also stand out as fan favorites and signature songs from his catalog.

However, none of those songs are in English, and many fans do not have personal memories of listening to them or enjoying them with family, friends, at clubs, or at parties. As a result, some viewers may naturally choose to skip the halftime show altogether, or simply sit through it, treating it like a muted movie with no subtitles.
