‘This Whole Story Is Wild’ — NFL World Reacts As Brandon Aiyuk Shares New Videos To Force Move To Commanders

Brandon Aiyuk's latest social media stunt has NFL fans talking as the 49ers receiver continues to push for a move to the Washington Commanders.

The NFL offseason always delivers plenty of drama, but no storyline has generated more buzz this year than the ongoing saga between wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers.

With the 49ers yet to release the second-team All-Pro receiver, Aiyuk has continued to escalate the feud publicly by trolling the franchise in a variety of ways. In his latest move, he appears to be doubling down on his desire to join Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.

Brandon Aiyuk Throws Cash Around, Announces “Tour” on Commanders’ Website

Aiyuk enjoyed an impressive run with the 49ers before an injury-shortened 2024 season. Things took a dramatic turn last summer when he skipped team meetings and other activities, prompting the franchise to eventually void the $27 million in guaranteed money for the 2026 season in his four-year, $120 million contract.

San Francisco has reportedly explored trade options but has yet to find a suitable partner, leaving the situation at a stalemate as Aiyuk continues to push for his release. In a recent video, he made it abundantly clear that he wants to join the Commanders, and he has now dropped another not-so-subtle hint.

Aiyuk posted a video announcing that he was “back on tour” and claimed fans could find tickets to see him on the Commanders’ website. While it remains unclear what the “tour” actually refers to, the message appeared obvious, and NFL fans have certainly been entertained by the theatrics.

While much of the NFL world remains divided over who is to blame for the fallout, many believe the 49ers should simply end the drama by releasing the 28-year-old.

“I mean ion [ I don’t] blame him for doing this rant.. 49ers being petty not releasing him They gain nothing for him still being on their roster,” wrote Janky Rondo, a popular streamer.

However, given Aiyuk’s recent antics, others have questioned whether the Commanders would even be interested in signing him.

“I seriously don’t see how the Commanders see this and don’t immediately say, ‘We’re good, you can keep him in San Francisco,'” wrote NFL analyst Brian Mansell.

“Maybe we need to think of this in reverse… Can the Commanders file tampering charges against Brandon Aiyuk?” asked 49ers analyst David Lombardi.

Aiyuk also shared another video of himself throwing cash around, an apparent jab at the 49ers over the money they have paid him throughout his tenure. NFL writer Clarence Hill Jr., however, dismissed the stunt as “just stupid.”

Meanwhile, sports commentator Kenny King Jr. compared the situation to Antonio Brown’s infamous split with the Raiders in 2019. Brown ultimately secured his release, whereas Aiyuk has yet to take any official step that would force the 49ers’ hand.

During his first four seasons with San Francisco, Aiyuk established himself as one of the NFL’s most productive young receivers. Before turning 26, he joined an exclusive group of active wideouts with multiple seasons of at least 75 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns, alongside stars such as Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Mike Evans.

According to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric, in 2023, Aiyuk posted an impact score of 92.7, which ranked fourth-highest in the league.

At his best, Aiyuk has proven he can be an impact receiver. However, it is evident that his time in San Francisco has come to an end, and he has made little effort to hide his desire to play for the Commanders.

Washington already boasts one of the league’s most exciting young offenses under quarterback Jayden Daniels, and Aiyuk’s ability to stretch the field could make him an ideal fit. However, his recent public behavior, coupled with concerns over his recovery from injury, could give the Commanders pause before pursuing a deal.
