The NFL Wild Card round set the bar incredibly high, featuring three upsets and four one-score games. The Divisional Round now has an opportunity to top that, as the weekend kicks off with Josh Allen and the sixth-seeded Bills heading to Mile High to face the top-seeded Broncos.
With the season on the line for both AFC contenders, here’s a closer look at the broadcasting crew that will guide fans through the contest on CBS.
Who are the Announcers for Bills-Broncos on CBS?
Leading the way for Saturday’s Divisional Round contest will be play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz, alongside color commentator Tony Romo. Tracy Wolfson, a CBS reporter since 2004, will also be part of the crew, working down on the sideline.
Nantz is a legend in sports broadcasting. The longtime announcer has been with CBS since 1985, currently serving as the lead play-by-play announcer for The Masters, NCAA Final Four, and the NFL. Most notably, Nantz has covered seven different Super Bowls, most recently in 2024, where he delivered an iconic call on the final play of overtime.
Alongside Nantz will be Romo, a fourteen-year NFL quarterback who spent each of his playing seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. After retiring in 2017, Romo immediately joined CBS and has been their lead color guy since. Romo has announced three Super Bowls of his own, alongside Nantz in each of them.
In his early years, Romo was arguably considered the best color commentator in the business, but as of recently, he hasn’t received that same praise. Romo was on the call for the Bills’ first-round matchup against the Jaguars, and fans weren’t too pleased with his performance in the booth.
Fans on X, in particular, were very blunt, as one spectator tweeted, “What’s amazing is that the first 3 years of Tony Romo is one of my favorite announcers of all time and then all of a sudden he become AWFUL”. Another viewer said, “I am once again begging CBS to get Tony Romo off the air.”
Awful Announcing ranked the Nantz and Romo booth sixth in 2023 and 2024, and seventh in 2025. The site also mentioned a recurring theme among fans: that Romo held back Nantz.
Regardless, Nantz and Romo will be in the booth as the Bills’ #3 offense faces the Broncos’ #1-ranked defense, per PFSN’s Impact metric. Fans will be hoping for a Romo bounce-back, while he and the CBS crew look to deliver a memorable playoff broadcast on Saturday.
