One of the best coaches in the history of football was in the news as former New England Patriots coach and current North Carolina Tar Heels coach Bill Belichick has been in the news lately. While doing an interview with Tony Dokoupil of “CBS Mornings” to promote his upcoming book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,” the interview seemed to go off the rails for multiple reasons.
One reason was Dokoupil asking how Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, met, which Hudson immediately shot down from off-camera. With CBS airing the interview and showcasing some of those moments, it created a bit of an awkward scene. However, things have gotten more interesting as Belichick released a statement regarding the interview.

Bill Belichick Issues Statement Regarding CBS Mornings Interview
Belichick and Hudson were seemingly unhappy with how the interview with Dokoupil was presented and wanted to try to play a bit of damage control after it was painted in a negative light. After having a bit of a media issue following the “CBS Mornings” interview and how it was cut, Belichick wanted to avoid topics that he felt were unrelated to the book. He also confirmed that he met Hudson on a flight to Palm Beach back in 2021 to dispel any internet rumors.
This also comes after Hudson posted an email dated April 10 on her Instagram from Belichick talking about expecting this type of media circus and not wanting to promote the book as him admitting his mistakes.
“This is what I expected from the media. We went through how important it was for me to put ‘I f***ed up’ in the book, and of course, that is the feature of this article… I have, at times reluctantly, gone along with the title, cover, and language in the book. I am not going to be the conductor of a hype train in the book promotion – we have enough hype to work with.”
Hudson also mentioned how she would be releasing a full statement on Tuesday (April 29), but as of Thursday, May 1, nothing has been posted. It will be interesting to see if there will be any more press tours for Belichick’s book or if this situation and the college football season, only a few months away, will continue to keep him away from that. Belichick’s Tar Heels open the season on September 1 at home against TCU.
