Legendary football coach Bill Belichick is preparing for his first season in charge of the North Carolina program. Belichick is making his first foray in collegiate athletics after a successful stint as head coach of the New England Patriots.
However, the future Hall of Fame coach is in the headlines for other reasons. Mainly, he has made headlines for a recent CBS interview involving his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. This interview made the rounds and even drew the ire of one of his own family members.

Belichick agreed to an interview with CBS last weekend, and questions about the coach’s girlfriend arose. Specifically, North Carolina’s sideline boss was asked about how the two met. Hudson then intervened, telling the interviewer that the 73-year-old ball coach would not discuss that topic.
The interview was covered by many media outlets following its airing. On Instagram, some defended Hudson for her intervention. However, Jen Belichick — the wife of Bill’s son, Steve — did not seem happy with Hudson’s shutting down of the question.
“Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview,” Jen Belichick said on Instagram.
The North Carolina head coach has come to his girlfriend’s defense. He accused CBS of not staying within the confines of the expectations set out before the interview.
“Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book,” Belichick said in a statement through the University of North Carolina on Wednesday, April 30, via CBS News.
“Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book,” the statement continued.
“After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”
CBS News provided its own response to Belichick on April 30. The news outlet claims there were no specific expectations laid out before the interview was conducted. Moreover, Belichick agreed to a wide-ranging interview, according to their statement.
“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview. There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation. This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed,” CBS News said.
Belichick is entering his first year as North Carolina’s head coach, as mentioned. He was tabbed by the school to turn its football program around. He replaces Mack Brown, who spent six seasons in Chapel Hill during his second stint with the team.
