Derrick Henry’s Fantasy Outlook

Derrick Henry continues to defy the conventional wisdom that running backs break down in their 30s. Since 2019, Henry has averaged 309 carries, 1,521 rushing yards, and 14 touchdowns per season. He’s also played in at least 15 games in five of six years. That unparalleled volume has allowed Henry to average 19.6 fantasy points per game over the last six seasons. He’s been a top-five running back in PPR points per game for five of six seasons, including an RB1 overall finish in 2021 (24.2 PPG).

We all knew Henry’s fit with the Ravens would be great, but their strong offensive line and the presence of Lamar Jackson at quarterback unleashed a new level of efficiency. Henry had the highest yards per attempt (5.9) and rushing success rate (58.8%) of his career in his age-30 season. He was also third in both yards before contact (2.5) and yards after contact (3.4). Henry had the highest expected points added among all running backs in 2024 (32.7) and was fourth among all players, behind only Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, and Jalen Hurts.

Henry will be in the Ravens’ backfield again in 2025, behind an offensive line that returns four of its five starters. He will once again be a threat to lead the NFL in rushing touchdowns. It is going to be nearly impossible for him to finish as the RB1, given his lack of pass-catching (and the pass-catching ability of several big names ahead of him). Nonetheless, he seems locked into a top-five finish at the position again due to his volume and touchdowns.
