The Chicago Bears enter their sixth game of the NFL 2025 season with a 3-2 record. But that’s not their primary concern at this point. Bears’ veteran wide receiver DJ Moore, who has put up an outstanding performance this season and for many seasons in his career, suffered an injury in the Monday Night Football game.
Even though it was not apparent, Moore took some heavy hits against the Washington Commanders on Monday. The Bears won 25-24, but the aftermath left the team’s fans and the NFL world shocked.
What Happened to DJ Moore?
Moore was phenomenal during the game, as always. He put up significant numbers, running twice for 10 yards and catching three passes for 42 yards. However, during the first half of the game, Moore took a hit to the midsection and appeared to be in discomfort for the remainder of the game.
While he did not address it as an injury during or after the match, head coach Ben Johnson later revealed that Moore was initially in the locker room but left the stadium in an ambulance. The team stated the reason was “precautionary medical evaluation.”
ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported on X, “DJ Moore was taken from Northwest Stadium in an ambulance postgame to a local area hospital for precautionary medical evaluation. He will remain in the area overnight, per the team.”
The Bears have no apparent reason for Moore’s staying in Washington. He did not return to Chicago with his team. The announcement was made at the last minute after the game, and fans speculated widely about what might have happened. While no serious injury has been reported, the Bears are just being extra careful with their star performer.
Moore did not practice on Wednesday, raising concerns about his availability for Week 7. Fortunately for the NFC North team, their star receiver returned to practice on Thursday, but was a limited participant.

Moore’s status for Week 7 is still up in the air, but his return to practice indicates that barring a late setback, he should be ready for the game against the New Orleans Saints.
Moore’s Season So Far
The 2018 NFL Draft’s 18th overall pick has proven himself a valuable asset. Even though neither the Carolina Panthers, his first team, nor the Bears have made it to the playoffs, Moore has been a tough nut for the opponents. He has logged 1100+ yards in four out of the seven previous seasons in the NFL.
In the 2025 season, Moore has been targeted 26 times and has received 19 of them. He has rushed for 215 yards with one touchdown. He is among the 11 players in NFL history who have 7,000+ receiving yards in less than 120 games played, ranking ninth. He still has one more game to play to reach 120 games.

Moore is graded C in PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact (WRi) with an impact score of 75.6. With the Bears all geared up to give it their all, let’s hope he returns fit for action in the next game against the Saints.
