Bam Knight Injury Update: Latest on Cardinals RB After Exiting Week 10 vs. Seahawks

The situation for the Arizona Cardinals went from bad to worse in the third quarter as they suffered a major blow in the form of Bam Knight.

The Arizona Cardinals may have found a sliver of hope after securing a dominant win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. However, any aspirations of remaining viable for the playoffs were sniffed out in dominating fashion by the Seattle Seahawks in the first half of their Week 10 clash.

As the Seahawks opened a 28-0 lead to begin the game, things progressively got worse. However, things truly took a horrible turn in the second half when they dealt with another injury in the backfield, this time to Bam Knight.

What Happened to Bam Knight?

With James Conner and Trey Benson going down already, the Cardinals had shifted to Knight to handle a majority of the workload in the backfield. However, against the Seahawks, as they were getting brutalized to the tune of 38-15, they still tried to mount a comeback.

Forcing a fumble on Sam Darnold, they got the ball back in favourable field position. On the third play of the drive, Jacoby Brissett handed the ball to Knight, who DeMarcus Lawrence immediately met for a one-yard loss.

But the situation was far more grim, as he lay on the field afterwards and was checked out by the trainers. As he left for the sidelines, he did not return for the rest of the drive, which ended with a turnover on downs.

Due to their injuries, no running back from Arizona’s roster qualified for rankings and grades on PFSN’s RB Impact metric. That list included Knight, who had 129 rushing yards and two touchdowns coming into their Week 10 game after first getting regular reps in Week 5.

Knight’s Fantasy Outlook

The Cardinals can’t seem to catch a break in their backfield. Already down James Conner and Trey Benson, now they may be without Knight. Just as they had settled on a rotation between Knight and Emari Demercado, this injury will shift things.

Arizona had completely phased Michael Carter out, with Demercado and Knight splitting the workload mostly evenly. Now, Demercado is likely to be the lead back with Carter forced into the change-of-pace role.

It’s hard to imagine Demercado seeing any sort of significant increase in volume. The most likely outcome is that Carter slides into the Knight role, which isn’t exactly valuable for fantasy.

We are probably a week or two away from Benson returning anyway. There’s nothing actionable here for fantasy other than to add Demercado if he’s available.
