This offseason, the Baltimore Ravens agreed to what appeared to be one of the biggest blockbuster trades in the NFL. They sent two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for Maxx Crosby. Yet, here we are in July, and Crosby is gearing up for his eighth training camp as a member of the Raiders.
Of course, it’s now known that the Ravens backed out of the agreement before it became official. Their reason? Baltimore’s doctors red-flagged Crosby’s medicals, even though he missed just two games last season, and is now back to 100% in time for Raiders training camp.
Now, months later, the Ravens are taking some flak from an NFL insider.
Raiders Insider Pokes At Ravens for Failed Maxx Crosby Trade
As Crosby is gearing up for training camp, some can’t help but look back at the trade that never was. Others are using the opportunity as a way to rip on an AFC conference rival.
It all took place on Tuesday, when the California Post’s Vincent Bonsignore took aim at the Ravens on his X social media page, where the Raiders reporter has amassed 72.4 thousand followers.
“‘I’m shocked that Maxx Crosby is full go to start training camp.’ Said no one, ever, who knows Maxx,” Bonsignore said. “Still scratching my head at how the Ravens handled all that. Their loss, Raiders gain.”
While the Raiders would have gotten two first-round picks, including the 14th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, they clearly wouldn’t have had their Pro Bowl pass-rusher. For comparison, the Ravens used that selection on Olaivavega Ioane, who’s projected to start at guard after the team lost their Pro Bowl center, Tyler Linderbaum, to the Raiders in free agency.

We’ll never know how the Raiders may have built their team differently after trading Crosby. Yet, it seems everyone still involved in Vegas is excited about the way the team is structured for a new season, where Crosby will play a pivotal role.
Plus, there’s always the chance that the Raiders revisit the Crosby trade discussions later on, especially if first-year head coach Klint Kubiak’s team struggles out of the gate.
Who knows? If Crosby proves he’s healthy and still in peak form, the Raiders might still be able to come close to recovering two first-round picks before the trade deadline passes.
The five-time Pro Bowler still produced 10 sacks for the fourth time in his career in 2025. His 89.3 PFN Impact Score ranked fifth among all edge-rushers.
Yet, Crosby earned a 99 score for his work in run defense, ranking him No. 1 in the entire NFL. That’s a rare skill set that others will surely pay a premium price for.
