Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, NFL Analysts Call Out Jerry Jeudy’s Major Mistake Leading to Shedeur Sanders’ Interception

Jerry Jeudy gets called out by NFL analysts in Week 15 for failing to catch a Browns touchdown that resulted in a Shedeur Sanders interception.

Jerry Jeudy serves as the top wide receiver for Shedeur Sanders in the Cleveland Browns’ offense. The rookie quarterback delivered a perfect pass to him during their Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears that appeared to be a touchdown. It was instead intercepted, and the veteran got called out for it around the NFL.

Jerry Jeudy Blamed For Shedeur Sanders Interception

Sanders fired a risky pass perfectly to Jeudy that surely appeared to be a touchdown through tight coverage. Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson took the football out of the wide receiver’s hands, turning the potential score into an interception instead.

The NFL’s official X handle posted the video with the caption, “Jaylon Johnson just took it out of his hands for the INT,” accompanied by a shocked emoji.

Many in the NFL, including notable analysts like Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, were quick to criticize Jeudy for not doing his part on the play. They are essentially claiming that Sanders deserved a touchdown pass on the impressive throw, but his veteran wide receiver let him down in a significant way.

“Damn Jeudy!!! Sanders couldn’t place it any better,” said Sharpe.

“CATCH THAT TOUCHDOWN PASS, JEUDY!!! PERFECT THROW!!! YOU DROPPED IT INTO AN INTERCEPTION!!! NOW SHEDEUR DESERVES TO GET IN YOUR FACE!!!,” exclaimed Bayless.

“YOU CAN’T THROW IT BETTER THAN THAT JEUDY !!!,” added Louis Riddick.

“I don’t think you’re gonna see much wilder TD catches and interceptions back to back. Shedeur Sanders dropped it to Jeudy in a tight window, but he just had the ball taken away from him by Jaylon Johnson,” explained Daniel Oyefusi.

The score likely wouldn’t have made any difference in the game’s outcome, as the Bears blew out the Browns 31-3. The touchdown-turned-interception only really impacts Sanders’ statistics, which were already poor in Week 15 due to his disappointing performance. This was one of his three interceptions during the game, and he completed only 177 yards in 18-of-35.

The rookie clearly took a step backwards this week, especially considering he was coming off his best career game so far. He exceeded 300 passing yards last week and was the first rookie this season to do so in any game. This earned him Rookie of the Week honors and validated the Browns’ decision to name him their starter for the rest of the year.

Sanders has now made four career starts, winning one of them, and twice ranking among the top 15 weekly quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings. He has flashed his upside at times, as well as his glaring inconsistencies, which are common among many rookies.
