NFL Analyst Gives Harsh Reality Check to ‘Tough Guy’ Jaxson Dart Amid Concerns Around Giants QB’s Health

NFL analyst Dan Patrick called out New York Giants star QB Jaxson Dart over his reckless play and reluctance to take care of his body.

The New York Giants lost their seventh game in a row to fall to 2-4. They’re already thinking about the offseason, hiring a new head coach, and the NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the only talking point about this team lately. Jaxson Dart’s reckless play has raised significant questions about his durability and long-term outlook in this league, yet he refuses to change.

Dan Patrick Calls Out Jaxson Dart

Dart’s reluctance to avoid taking unnecessary hits was on full display in the Monday night loss to the New England Patriots. He stayed in bounds after picking up a first down, and DB Christian Elliss got him with a brutal hit to the head.

Afterwards, Dart refused to acknowledge the problem with taking so many hits, which is why renowned sports pundit Dan Patrick put him on blast on his show:

“You know, tough guys don’t last; not in that position in the NFL,” Patrick said. “You don’t have to be a tough guy. A tough guy is playing every single week. A tough guy plays 17 games – that’s what your goal should be.”

Dart has already been evaluated for a concussion four times this season, not to mention that he had to miss the past two games due to it. He’s also dealt with multiple avoidable injuries.

When asked about that, the Ole Miss product doubled down on his style of play, claiming that football is a contact sport:

“No, look, I understand the question, but this is football,” Dart told the media. “I’m going to get hit if I’m in the pocket or outside the pocket. I feel like I played this way my whole entire life. It shouldn’t be any shocker to anybody if you followed along with my career. We’re not playing soccer out here. You’re going to get hit. Things happen. It’s just part of the game.”

Granted, football is one of the most physical games out there, and everybody’s inevitably going to get hit.

That being said, the best and most durable quarterbacks in the game have all mastered the fine art of not taking hits, as they’re always one snap away from potentially never retaking the field.

Dart has shown some good things in his first season in the league. He has a 79.4 PFSN Impact Metric, which ranks 14th among quarterbacks.

That’s to say that the Giants need him to take better care of his body. Otherwise, he will simply not have a long career.
