Through 14 games this season, Amon-Ra St. Brown has set a career-high in touchdown receptions (eight) and receiving yards (1,281), while matching last year’s output in both the catch and target departments.
Fantasy football managers paid a premium this summer for the rights to the Detroit Lions WR1, and it is looking like a bargain. Can he continue his elite production in a tough matchup against the Dallas Cowboys?
Should You Start Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 17?
With a touchdown in consecutive games for the third time this season and a score in five of his past seven, St. Brown has earned a label as one of the game’s most consistent producers.
He has 10 games this season with at least nine targets and is a true threat to swing your matchup for the better every time he takes the field, regardless of the matchup.
He reeled in 13 catches in what we expected to be a brutal spot against the Baltimore Ravens and scored in two other poor matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
Good offense beats good defense in today’s NFL and St. Brown is well beyond “good.” He can be viewed as a top-tier play for fantasy football in Week 17.

Should You Start St. Brown or A.J. Brown?
I have them both ranked as top-five options, so there’s no real wrong answer here, but I lean the upside of A.J. Brown over the reliable floor of St. Brown this week.
Brown gets an Arizona Cardinals team that is on a borderline historic pace when it comes to red-zone trips allowed, and there is no one that Jalen Hurts trusts more near the end zone than his WR1.
As for St. Brown, while he is capable of beating defenses in multiple ways, a matchup against the best tackling unit in the league isn’t ideal when it comes to breaking off chunk plays in the short passing game.
Should You Start St. Brown or CeeDee Lamb?
CeeDee Lamb is my top-ranked receiver this week thanks to 10 straight top-20 finishes at the position and a seven-game scoring streak.

St. Brown’s volume is what elevates him over many. However, considering that Lamb has cleared a dozen targets five times this season and has seen at least nine in every game since the Week 7 bye, he holds the floor/ceiling edge — not over just St. Brown, but every other player at the position!
