Alvin Kamara has been having another solid season as the leading running back for the New Orleans Saints. He unfortunately suffered a knee injury in their most recent game last week and was unable to return to play. This puts his potential availability for Week 13 in jeopardy.
Will Alvin Kamara Play in Week 13?
Kamara was forced to leave the Saints’ game last week against the Atlanta Falcons early after suffering a knee injury. He was ruled out for the remainder of the contest and was unable to return. His availability appears to be in doubt for their Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins.
The star running back has been a non-participant in their practices to open the week and has been officially diagnosed with a MCL sprain in his left knee. This can be a challenging injury to overcome, especially for his position. As a result, he currently seems unlikely to be available this week and could potentially be out for multiple weeks.
Further suggesting that he may not be able to play is the fact that the Saints recently elevated Evan Hull from their practice squad to their active roster. This theoretically signifies that he will replace the veteran in their backfield and provide additional depth.
Devin Neal is the most likely candidate to be named their starter if Kamara is unable to play. However, he has been a limited participant in practice this week due to an ankle injury. Hull will potentially serve as one of the options behind him, as well as Audric Estime and the versatile multi-position weapon Taysom Hill.
Kamara will have one more opportunity to potentially get back on the practice field for the Saints ahead of their matchup with the Dolphins. His official game designation will be announced later on Friday, but given the Saints’ far-out-of-playoff contention with a 2-9 record this year, it would be surprising if he were not ruled out for at least this week.
Despite the Saints’ struggles amid their ongoing rebuilding phase, Kamara has proven that he still has plenty left in the tank. He has totaled 164 touches this season for 657 scrimmage yards, despite playing in one of the worst offenses in the NFL.
He currently ranks 33rd among all running backs in PFSN’s Impact Rankings through the first 12 weeks of the 2025 season. His potential absence could give some of their younger options an opportunity to prove their value in the final stretch of the year.
